Rotary Club of East Cobb Rotary District 6900 held our final meeting of the Rotary 2025/2026 fiscal year this morning.

It was a fantastic meeting of Transition as we said a heartfelt THANK YOU to outgoing President Liz Kochman Myers and her Board for an amazing year of "Unite for Good" and WELCOMED incoming President Benjamin Alper who originally joined looking for criminals to represent and build his practice but instead, found strong and lasting friendships! Looking go to a new year to "Create Lasting Impact"!

Whitney Higdon did a wonderful job greeting everyone this morning as Rotarian of the Week! We were so thrilled to see our great friend and Rotarian Fred Hanna back this morning. We love you and missed you dear friend!

Congratulations to each of the following Rotarians:
1) Rookie Rotarian of the Year was awarded to Whitney Higdon for jumpinv right in and making a tremendous impact!
2) Rotarian of the Year was Andy Wong who served as our Treasurer as soon as he joined our club, and assumed the defacto role as publicity chair in addition to jump into our club's service projects!
3) Congrats to Andrew Wiseman on the birth of his 7th grandchild, Anna Marie! Some people have been very busy.
4) We are sad to see Brad Groff leave us as a member but are so happy for him as he slowly eased into a future retirement in Athens, GA. As you all know, Brad has been our club's Polio cure championšŸ†. We hope to still see Brad as long term friendships remain.

Upcoming service projects and opportunities for all to come and support include:
1) Searching for a host for this year's GRSP student from Sierra Leone. She is currently a rising senior at KSU and has a car to help with logistics. GRSP will kick off in August at the Conclave in Savannah! Reach out to Aaron Strimban for more information and to volunteer.
2) Adopt a Mile cleanup along Johnson Ferry Rd is this Saturday morning. It's rewarding work building fellowship and chapter community exposure at the same time. Reach out to Jim Flowers to get plugged in; you won't get shocked!
3) Serving dinner at The Women's Extension is coming up next Tuesday evening 06/30 at 5:30pm. Thanks to Sue Marshall for chairing this and for getting Sidelines Grill to generously provide the meal!
4) Dog Days Run is just a bit over a month away on Saturday morning, August 8. We still need SPONSORS and RUNNERS to ensure the success of this 21st Annual event. Please reach out to any potential sponsors for this outstanding community event!

Remember, we are dark next Wednesday as our country celebrated it's 250th birthday on July 4th! We will be back the following Wednesday and feel free to dress patriotically for that meeting. I am confident that Joe Murphey will set a great example; who else is in?

Thank you all for a great year and heard looking forward to an even better 2026/2027!

Whew, such a great weekly morning breakfast meeting with Rotary Club of East Cobb today.

ROTW Aaron Strimban greeted members and guests with his great smile and warm personality. He is our GRSP chair and has 3 finalist applicants and is looking for a club host family. If you are interested, please contact Aaron quickly and you can be part of the final selection process!

Our guest speaker Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens rocked the house this morning, not Jailhouse though I hear he's got room in their 3,300 inmate facility! Curious to see it in action? Do the crime and do the time! Better yet, coordinate with Sheriff Owens and his team for a possible club group tour.

Many thanks to Sheriff Owens and his team for keeping Cobb safe and the many insights shared!

It was great to have District 6900 Assistant Governor. Lisa Gelber visiting us this morning and for her very generous sunshine contribution only to be outdone by Joe Murphey inviting us to attend his band perform this Friday at Oak Street Bottle Shop in Roswell. You should recognize the tunes even if Facebook can't! LOL

Ken Crowell attended the Rotary International Conference in Taiwan. We can't wait for his return to share stories of his adventures if he dares.

Immediate dates to remember:

- Tomorrow evening is Thirsty Thursday at Ted's Montana Grill.
- Dinner service at The Women's Extension on June 30th. Reach out to Sue Marshall if you can join us.
- Dog Days Run is on August 8 and we still need SPONSORS and runners. Please reach out to your contacts to ensure a great and successful event!
- Next Thursday is our new President and Board induction meeting. Heartfelt thanks to outgoing President Liz Kochman Myers and her team as we welcome incoming President Benjamin Alper.

See you all next week if not sooner.
