Marietta Lions Club - Georgia

Marietta Lions Club - Georgia Our motto: "WE SERVE"
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM at Come-N-Get-It 1409 Church St. EXT NW, Marietta GA 30060

Founded in 1942, the Marietta Lions Club embodies the motto of Lions Clubs International: "WE SERVE." We work to meet the needs of our our local community, as well as global initiatives. We support sight conservation and services for the blind and visually-impaired. We provide a variety of vision services for qualifying Marietta residents. We also raise funds for the Georgia Lions Lighthouse (whi

ch supports vision and hearing care for uninsured and low income Georgians), the Children's Eye Care Center at Emory, and the Georgia Lions Camp (located in Waycross), which provides a residential camping experience for blind and visually impaired youth and adults. Local youth benefit from our financial contributions, including Scouts and the Miss Cobb County Scholarship pageants. We also award college scholarships each year to two graduating seniors at Marietta High School. In December our "Senior Santa" program provides holiday gifts to residents of a local nursing home who otherwise would receive no presents. And on Christmas Day we fill in for local senior services employees by delivering "Meals on Wheels" to elderly shut-ins. The community activity for which the Marietta Lions are best known is handing out American flags at the city's annual Fourth of July parade. Each year Marietta Lions lead the parade and hand out over 12,000 flags to spectators along the parade route.
