After the tragic loss of Mason Sells to sudden cardiac arrest, Mason’s family worked tirelessly with Georgia legislators to help turn heartbreak into action through the Mason Sells AED Coordination Act. Their advocacy and dedication helped create legislation aimed at helping 911 callers quickly locate nearby AEDs during cardiac emergencies — improving access to lifesaving intervention when every second counts.

The Mason Sells AED Coordination Act was passed into law with unanimous bipartisan support. Mason’s family’s advocacy and dedication serve as a powerful reminder of how community engagement and perseverance can create meaningful change to help protect lives.

The Lorene Newberry Chapter is also proud of our very own Julia Bossie, who has worked to elevate this conversation through ENA by raising awareness at the local and state level. Julia’s next step is bringing this important discussion to a national platform to further advocate for AED accessibility, early intervention, and lifesaving community preparedness.

Georgia’s ENA Government Affairs Committee had a successful day at Georgia Nurses Day at the Capitol! 🩺

They were able to meet Governor Brian Kemp, speak with some state representatives, exchange ideas, and advocate for emergency nurses across the state of Georgia. A day filled with fun, learning, and meeting with others who are passionate about improving healthcare for both nurses.
