Anxiety...sweaty palms, forgetting our lines, heart beating fast - haven't we all experienced this? Muhammed, our toastmaster for tonight's meeting explored this with us and pointed out how we often times create our own anxiety and aptly said, " it is like paying an interest for a loan you haven't received yet." The 14 members and 2 guests present talked, laughed and shared experiences on anxiety, and how we all cope and learn to manage it.
Tonight's Best Speaker was Bita, Best Evaluator was Kent and Best Table Topics Speaker was our guest Harlem.

Road trip! That was Amun, our toastmaster's theme for the meeting. In table topics, we used our imagination in using unique words related to travel and road trips. Using real words that we didn't know their meaning in our impromptu speech was the challenge! Hodophile was the word that Lawrence, our guest and table topics winner used. Other words were scurryfunge, coddiwomple, solivagant, and resfeber.
Najla, one of our newest members did a fabulous job as a first-time timer!
Best Speaker: Stephanie for her Ice Breaker "Why am I Here?"
Best Evaluator : Martha

We had a night full of laughter during our BACKWARDS meeting tonight! Ever wondered what a Toastmasters meeting would look like… in reverse? We flipped the entire agenda upside down. Evaluations came before speeches, Table Topics answers were praised before they were given, and the meeting “welcome” happens at the very end.
It was playful. It was unpredictable. It was a fantastic way to sharpen our listening, creativity, and improvisation skills while having a lot of laughs!
Best Speaker who truly embodied what the evaluators said he would: Darrell
Best Table Topics who used her hands and the word of the day as "predicted" when she gave her table topics speech: Najla
Best Evaluator who gave his feedback about what the speaker would say and do before it was delivered: Sandesh

May 16, 2026: The Executive Toastmasters Club #266 was honored with the Smedley Distinguished Club Award during the District 44 Annual Conference. In previous years, ETM consistently earned the President’s Distinguished Award, the highest club‑level recognition.

This year marked the introduction of the Smedley Award—an honor reserved for clubs that achieve all 10 of the goals established by Toastmasters International. ETM was the only one in the Area/Division and one of only six clubs in the District to reach this milestone.

Congratulations to the entire ETM team on this outstanding achievement!

Imagine, from giving an 11 second speech because she was so nervous she couldn't talk, to delivering a speech where singing was a part of it! Carrol inspired us all tonight with the story of her 30 year Toastmaster journey, not only with how she eventually learned to give wonderful speeches, but how Toastmasters also gave her skills that she applied in every aspect of her life! 30 years of consistent service, dependability, and teaching - we look forward to many, many more! Thank you, Carrol!

These were just some of the moments experienced by the 12 members and 4 guests present in today's meeting!

Najla, our newest member caught the ETM bull as she came up to get her award - Best Table Topics Speaker who talked about the worst historical figure that one can get as a room mate.
We had two inspiring speeches: Amun's was about writing your own destiny and Emilio spoke about how saying no is another way of saying yes!
We also congratulated Jen, who is a brand new grandma!
Best Speaker - Amun; Best Eval - Mabel

Join us on our next meeting and see how ETM celebrates each other's joys, prod each other on to grow, and simply be there to support each one's TM goals!
