We LOVE our first responders! Club members assembled bags of treats for all the Marietta police and fire stations to thank them for all they do for the community. The bags were then delivered by President-elect Nominee Jeff Beamer, who chaired the project.

Please join us in saying WELCOME to our club’s inbound RYE (Rotary Youth Exchange) student, Richard, from Latvia. Richard will be attending Marietta High School and participating in the activities of our club.

Richard recently took advantage of the opportunity to meet and talk with our outbound RYE student, Gabby, along with her mother Jackie and brother Christian, who recently returned from his RYE year in Scandanavia.

👩‍🍼July in Rotary is Maternal and Child Health month, so it was only fitting that our program should center around health. Club member Ken Kirk’s two-part health themed program began with an update on PolioPlus. He then shifted to an interactive presentation about the dangers of an excess of sugar in the American diet and how to decrease it. Does Rotary have a role in improving dietary health by encouraging a decrease in sugar consumption? The general consensus seemed to be YES, we do.

💥 This week marks the start of a brand new Rotary year and Marietta Metro Rotarians celebrated the installation of our new officers and directors.

💥 President Daniel Owen will lead the club through the new year, following in the very large footsteps of now-Past President Lynn Lanier.

💥 Daniel and his Board were installed by District Governor Cynthia Edwards. DG Cynthia also helped us welcome new member Rev. Cassie Waits into the club.

🎉 PARTY TIME! 🎉 It’s been a very good year for our club, so a celebration was in order. Frank and Liza Leiter opened their home to club members for an evening of food, fun, and great Rotary fellowship.

🎉 President Lynn surprised two club members with special awards: Past President Bill White received the coveted Rotarian of the Year award and Steven Tarter received the Rookie of the Year award. Recognition was also given to members of the Board who were in attendance.

🎉 President Lynn was then presented with a gift from the club: a new fishing rod. Past President Bob Thomas explained that the duct tape on Lynn’s old rod needed replacing, so the club decided that a new rod would be less expensive than a roll of tape. We hope President Lynn will put his new rod to good use.

Marietta Metro Rotarians showed up at McEachern High School bright and early this morning with 1,000 bottles of water and Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches. The tasty treats were gobbled up by the hungry participants, coaches, and officials who showed up for the 2nd annual Dynasty Track Club-Cobb PAL elite invitational track meet.
