Excitement was in the air this morning as third graders at Dunleith Elementary School received their very own dictionaries! Presented by Past President Dr. Ron Lunk the dictionaries contained a sticker with the 4-Way Test.

Does Latvia have mountains? Ricards, our club’s inbound RYE (Rotary Youth Exchange) student, presented an interesting program to our club this week about his home country and answered questions from the audience. And no, Latvia doesn’t have mountains. But it does have beautiful scenery, closely knit families, and ages-old traditions that still continue.

Marietta native Christian, who spent his RYE year studying in Denmark, also spoke about his experiences there.

RYE expands students’ knowledge and understanding of other countries and cultures while being hosted by both Rotarian and non-Rotarian families. It’s one of the most popular and longest standing programs in all of Rotary and our club is delighted to support it.

Rotary Rocks … in more ways than one! At the Police Athletic League’s Fall Festival, Rotary rocks were all the rage. The children enjoyed decorating their very own Rotary rocks and taking them home. Who knew rocks could be so much fun!

It was a beautiful day in Waleska, GA, as club members and guests assembled for some good food and great fellowship before heading out to the shooting stations for an afternoon of camaraderie and competition. Stay tuned to find out which team was the winner of our 6th annual Sporting Clays Shooting Classic and who went home with the Big Green Egg.

We love our sponsors! Today our 6th annual Sporting Clays Shooting Classic is supported by several generous sponsors, a few of whom are shown below. Proceeds from this event will allow us to continue serving those in the community who need a
helping hand.

💰“The good news is: we’re no longer in a recession.” In fact, KSU economics professor Dr. Roger Tutterow presented a largely positive and encouraging update on the state of the U.S. economy. In a fast-paced and riveting talk to our club, he discussed, among other things, interest rates, the impact of tariffs, the war in Iran and its effect on oil prices, as well as the high cost of building materials and food.

Dr. Tutterow also cautiously predicted that the midterm election results will see a slight Democrat majority in the House and a Republican majority in the Senate.

It was yet another of our excellent weekly programs, highlighting topics of interest to our members and guests.

We LOVE our first responders! Club members assembled bags of treats for all the Marietta police and fire stations to thank them for all they do for the community. The bags were then delivered by President-elect Nominee Jeff Beamer, who chaired the project.

Please join us in saying WELCOME to our club’s inbound RYE (Rotary Youth Exchange) student, Richard, from Latvia. Richard will be attending Marietta High School and participating in the activities of our club.

Richard recently took advantage of the opportunity to meet and talk with our outbound RYE student, Gabby, along with her mother Jackie and brother Christian, who recently returned from his RYE year in Scandanavia.
