Here’s some of what’s happening This Week at MUST!

Our Cooling Center at Hope House will remain open through Labor Day, providing a safe place for our neighbors to cool off, receive meals and connect with MUST Ministries’ wraparound services.

While Hope House remains open, all other MUST Ministries locations will be closed for Labor Day, including the MUST Marketplace.

And this week, we’re highlighting a need you may not immediately think of: childcare.

For parents in MUST’s housing programs, access to safe, reliable childcare can mean the difference between being able to work, search for a job or attend an interview and having to stay home. Your support can help give parents the opportunity to take important steps toward stability while knowing their children are cared for.

☀️ PLEASE SHARE ☀️

With continued hot temperatures in our area, the MUST Hope House Cooling Center will be open Monday, Aug. 31 through Saturday, Sept. 5, from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Anyone in need of relief from the heat is welcome to come inside and cool down in a safe, air-conditioned space. Guests will also receive lunch and dinner prior to departure.

What would you do if you had to choose between paying rent, buying groceries or keeping the lights on?

Recently, a team from participated in MUST Ministries’ Poverty Simulator, gaining a deeper understanding of the difficult choices and barriers many of our neighbors in need face every day.

The experience demonstrates something at the heart of MUST’s mission: one challenge rarely exists on its own. A lost job can affect housing. An unexpected bill can impact the grocery budget. Transportation issues can make it harder to get to work. One setback can quickly touch every part of a family’s life.

That’s why MUST provides wraparound services, connecting neighbors in need with support including food, housing, clothing, healthcare and employment services to help them move from crisis toward stability.

MUST Ministries is welcoming new leadership to our Board of Directors!

We recently gathered for New Board Member Orientation as we welcomed four new community leaders who will help guide MUST’s continued growth and impact:

Lori Thompson, Vice President of Human Resources, Universal Alloy Corporation
Michael D. Williams, President and Managing Director, Trailblazer Mortgage
Pam Younker, Chief Operating Officer, Younker and Associates

We’re also proud to welcome Joyette Holmes as our new Board Chair and Bob Reccord as Vice Chair.

Together, our 35-member Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and helps guide MUST’s mission of feeding, housing, clothing and caring for our neighbors in need.

We’re grateful for the expertise, leadership and heart these individuals bring to MUST Ministries and look forward to the impact ahead.

MUST Mobile Pantry is bringing fresh groceries and essential items directly into communities across metro Atlanta where they are needed most. This September, our Mobile Pantry will make stops in Acworth, Atlanta, Austell, Canton, Jasper, Kennesaw, Marietta and Roswell.

Christmas is four months away, but at MUST Ministries, the work to make Christmas possible for local families starts now. 🎄

Last Christmas, MUST served more than 8,000 children. With an average of 10 gifts needed for each child, we need more than 80,000 new toys and gifts to fill the MUST Ministries Toy Shop this year.

Our biggest Christmas needs include gifts for teens, new books, pajamas, throw-size blankets, socks, underwear and stocking stuffers.

You can help us get a head start. Start a Toy Shop donation drive with your church, school, business or community group, shop our most-needed items, or make a gift to support the MUST Ministries Toy Shop.

Four months will be here before we know it. Help us make sure every child who comes through our doors can experience the joy of Christmas. ❤️
