🌟CASA Spotlight Alert 🌟Manorthia is a visually impaired CASA who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication, compassion, and perseverance in advocating for her teenage CASA child through one of the most traumatic periods of the child’s life.

Her CASA child was recently brought back to Georgia after living in another state with a relative. Since returning, the child has experienced profound feelings of rejection and abandonment. Her biological mother is deceased, her adoptive mother abandoned her, and now the relative with whom she had been living has rejected her as well. Through all of this, Manorthia has remained a consistent and supportive presence. She has listened as her CASA child has cried and expressed feeling unwanted and unloved, providing reassurance that someone is there, someone cares, and someone will continue to advocate for her.

Although Manorthia is a newer CASA, she has approached this complicated case with an impressive level of diligence and commitment. She has communicated with schools, therapists, relatives, and DFCS in both California and Georgia. She attends WTLP meetings, every FTM and court hearing, and participates actively by asking thoughtful questions and ensuring that important issues are not overlooked.

Most importantly, Manorthia is not afraid to speak up and speak out when she believes something is not in her CASA child’s best interest. She approaches advocacy with courage, compassion, and determination. Her visual impairment has not diminished her commitment or her ability to be an effective advocate; instead, her actions demonstrate that dedication and heart are what truly make a difference in the life of a child.

Manorthia is giving this case her all. Her consistency, persistence, and willingness to ask difficult questions demonstrate what it means to be a dedicated CASA. I look forward to seeing the continued contributions she will make as this case progresses and am grateful for the unwavering advocacy she is providing to her CASA child.

Our Speed Puzzle Challenge at CASA Connections was fun and a bit tricky! 🧩 Thank you to all the Cobb County CASAs who joined us. We loved seeing such an incredible turnout.

It was a great opportunity to connect, build community, and enjoy a relaxed evening together outside of our usual routines. Sharing laughs, conversation, and a little friendly competition made the night even more special. We truly appreciate everything you do and the spirit each of you bring to this program. It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, and Cobb County CASA would like to take moment to recognize and celebrate all our volunteers.❤️

At the heart of our program is a mission powered by volunteers. We are deeply appreciative of each and every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and compassion to support dependent children in our community. You step into complex and often challenging situations with patience, empathy, and unwavering dedication. You take the time to listen, to show up, and to ensure a child’s needs and wishes are not only heard but truly considered.

Whether you are currently active, have served in the past, or are just beginning your journey with us, your impact is both meaningful and lasting. You bring stability in moments of uncertainty, encouragement during times of difficulty, and hope when it is needed most.

Every visit, every report, and every conversation with a child or family adds up to something greater than any single moment. Through your advocacy, you are helping to create safer, more supported futures for children in care. We truly could not do this work without you, and we are sincerely honored to serve alongside you.

🌟CASA SPOTLIGHT ALERT🌟 What can be said about Susan?  When it comes to describing the kind of extraordinary CASA she is, there are not enough words. Susan is truly exemplary-consistently going above and beyond for the children she serves. From day one, Susan has demonstrated a level of commitment to her assigned children that is unmatched.

Through it all, Susan has shown up, whether the child was temporarily placed in a hotel in Albany or moved as far as South Carolina to receive needed services. Wherever the child goes, Susan follows. She ensures that every service is tracked, every need is identified, and nothing falls through the cracks. Judges, DFCS, and the GAL routinely rely on Susan for accurate, up-to-date information-often turning to her in court as a trusted source.

Susan attends visits, communicates with stakeholders, and consistently speaks up in the best interest of the child.Susan has never missed a court date or a visit. She gathers information from multiple sources, attends every meeting related to the case, maintains thorough records, communicates consistently, and remains objective and professional at all times. Susan visits each sibling monthly at their respective placements, ensuring they continue to feel seen, supported, and valued.

So far in 2026 alone, Susan has dedicated over 65 hours and traveled more than 1,100 miles in service of her case. Susan is not just an outstanding CASA; she is the standard. She is the blueprint of what true advocacy looks like and has set the bar.
