So grateful to be part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive! This national effort on the 2nd Saturday in May stocks local food pantries when folks leave food by their mailboxes for pickup by their carriers. The West Oak station in East Cobb collected over 1000 pounds of groceries for us to deliver to the Pantry on Church. Their shelves were almost empty, so it was perfect timing. This pantry serves 300 families every week at their drive through food distribution, so it takes a lot of groceries to keep the program going. Every donation helps! PORCH is here to every day.

Thanks to our amazing volunteer team, we’ve been able to support our local food pantries and Title 1 schools with nonperishable food, fresh milk and eggs, household and personal care items, and snacks for students since February 2022. It’s hard to believe, but that’s 50 months of working behind the scenes to make sure our Marietta front line community service providers are well supplied to serve our neighbors who need a little extra help. Thanks CBS News Atlanta and Emily McLeod for sharing our story! Starting a PORCH chapter in your neighborhood is an easy way to help people facing food insecurity. All you have to do is find a food pantry in your area, ask them what food they need, ask neighbors to put these groceries on their porches, collect the food & bring it to the pantry. It’s that simple. People need a little extra help in every county across the country. If you have a couple extra hours each month, you can make a difference. Full video is in the link in our story.

Big thanks to Sope Creek Elementary’s PTA for organizing their 5th grade community outreach program. They donated 358 pounds of food to the families at Brumby Elementary to be sure everyone has enough to eat over winter break. School breaks can be a challenge when kids can’t get breakfast or lunch at school. We’re grateful for your kindness, Sope Creek!
