FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Global Humanitarian Assistance Welcomes Lynsey Barron as Director and Secretary

Atlanta, Georgia March 10, 2024 - Global Humanitarian Assistance (GHA), a US non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential humanitarian aid to those affected by the war in Ukraine, is proud to announce the election of Lynsey Morris Barron as its new Director and Secretary.

Ms. Barron's journey to GHA began with a profound experience volunteering in May 2022 with World Central Kitchen in Przemysl, Poland, near the Ukrainian border. Her dedication to assisting Ukrainian refugees, coupled with her background in white-collar criminal defense, corporate compliance, and investigations, uniquely positions her to make a significant impact on GHA's mission.

In her letter of interest, Ms. Barron expressed deep commitment to helping those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She recognizes that effective assistance often requires going beyond traditional aid channels, such as large organizations, and focusing on direct support to those in need. This aligns perfectly with GHA's approach, as the organization strives to provide targeted care, including mental and emotion counseling services to children victims through projects like OPERATION: Restore Hope.

OPERATION: Restore Hope, one of GHA's flagship projects, creates child-safe spaces in schools and provides essential mental health and psychological care to children traumatized by war. These safe spaces are designed to offer a healing environment, complete with child-friendly furnishings, non-confrontational activities, and trained professionals to guide children towards recovery.

Lynsey Barron's extensive legal experience, her passion for humanitarian work, and her strong connections make her an invaluable addition to the GHA leadership team. Her desire to return to Ukraine to provide hands-on assistance setting up Child Safe Spaces contributes further to GHA's efforts and underscores her unwavering commitment to the cause.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lynsey Barron to our team," said Fred Rudolph, founder of Global Humanitarian Assistance. "Her dedication to humanitarian work and her impressive legal background will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to provide crucial assistance to those affected by the war in Ukraine. We are confident that her expertise will help us achieve even greater benefit in our mission to alleviate suffering and restore hope for the children who have been personally affected by the war."

NEWS FROM KYIV

I was awake this morning at 2 AM in Atlanta to try to reach Anastasia in Kyiv, Ukraine. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible. Last night, Russian strikes on electrical infrastructure damaged the electrical grid that serves Kyiv, Ukraine's capital and largest city. Damaged to the point that much of the city is without power and heat. I didn't know that at 2 AM. All I knew was that I couldn't reach Anastasia to discuss issues with my upcoming trip to Ukraine.

At 2 AM, I was worried. Worried about a friend and friends in Ukraine. Worried about what Russia is doing to grind down the civilian population. Worried about hearing about people freezing to death this Winter. Earlier last night, I reached out to someone with whom I worked to see if he would help. I like him, but I don't understand him. Instead of focusing on the need in Ukraine, he focused on his complaints. I think he thinks that others will step in or that governments are those who provide all the needed aid.

He didn't donate.

I'm saddened but not surprised. I'm saddened for any number of reasons. Maybe I didn't make my case well enough. Perhaps he doesn't trust me. Maybe he doesn't care. It's this last part that worries me.

Our news cycle is such that we lose focus on critical issues. What do I mean? Well, in the case of this friend - he has a job. So many in Ukraine have been forced from their homes and have neither homes nor income. This friend can buy the gas he doesn't want to spend $3.50 for - In Ukraine, there is little or no gas. You can't quickly drive from Lviv to Kyiv. It's a 12-hour train ride. Finally, my friend has a warm home and warm clothes. The windows of his house ... well, exist - In much of Ukraine where the shelling has occurred, even if the building is standing, the shock waves of blasts have shattered ALL windows, and there isn't enough glass in Europe to reglaze.

I wish my friend had helped. I wish I had gotten through to him. I won't give up. He's a really good guy, like so many of us are. He doesn't realize how dire the situation is for civilians in Ukraine.

So, I implore you now to close your eyes and imagine the following:

Even taking away the fear of a missile or drone attack (which the Ukrainians cannot ignore). Imagine being COLD. Imagine Winter with no windows. The wind is blowing. You've fled your home city and have nothing but the clothes on your back. And those clothes are what you fled with in April. Your socks are threadbare. There is no heat. No electricity. It's frigid. And you don't have any options to "fix" your situation. And you are not alone. You look at your spouse and children; the latter, you've given everything you HAD. And they are cold.

Now - open your eyes ... and GIVE.
Please give generously!

Winter in Ukraine is HARSH. And Putin is targeting Ukrainian infrastructure with missile, artillery, and drone attacks, all to attack the civilian population. Electric Plants! Facilities that provide HEAT. Oil depots.

Many Ukrainians left with only the clothes on their backs in April. THEY NEED WARM COATS! WOOL SOCKS! BLANKETS! THERMAL UNDERWEAR! GENERATORS! Please help us provide these items to UKRAINE.
