From Garden to Tray 🍴🌿

Our February School Garden + Education CoP focused on turning harvests into hands-on culinary learning.

This month we explored:
🥗Planning garden-based cooking activities
👩‍🍳Choosing recipes that match your site’s equipment and capacity
🌱 Connecting garden harvest to student engagement

We even walked through two adaptable recipes - including a massaged kale salad and basic dressings for versatility. 🥬 🍋

And we discussed something big:
đź’°There is still $1.8 million in Try It Local funding
available before June 30, 2026 ‼️

We also shared planting updates and seed resources from to help you plan what’s next in your garden.

This CoP brings together educators, community orgs, and state partners to move from inspiration → implementation. That’s the power of community.

🌿Our January School Garden + Education Community of Practice kicked off with an important question: What should you be planting right now?

We focused on one of the most important foundations of a successful school garden: ✨Seasonality✨

Participants worked through:
✔️ How to determine what to grow on their campus
✔️ How to align planting with the tools and capacity they already have
✔️ How to set their gardens up for long-term success

From kale and peas to carrots and broccoli, we explored practical planting strategies that make school gardens more productive and manageable. 🥕

We also review seed sourcing resources like to support strong seasonal planning.

From school garden educators to community orgs, and state partners - successful gardens thrive on collaboration, and this is where inspiration turns to implementation. 🌱
