🙏🏻🙏🏻Miss Tabitha wanted me to thank whoever paid for precious medicine at critter care.
She will be headed to spay bay soon.
She herself spent the night in the hospital but is being discharged today.
Her next priority is getting precious to spay bay..

🐾 A Little Behind-the-Scenes Reality Check 🐾

Sometimes I get comments or messages that make it seem like people think I’m just collecting dogs and not trying to find them homes.

I want you to know that’s simply not true.

Behind the scenes, I’ve sent hundreds of emails to rescues, shelters, and organizations all over the country trying to find opportunities for our dogs. I spend hours networking, sending photos, writing bios, filling out intake forms, making phone calls, arranging transport, and following up.

The hard reality is that most organizations are looking for very specific dogs.

They want puppies under 8-12 weeks old.
They want fully vetted dogs.
They want dogs that are leash trained.
They want dogs that are already socialized.
They want dogs that are good with kids, cats, and other dogs.
They want small dogs.
They want doodles.

What they usually don’t want are adult dogs, large dogs, pit bulls, pit mixes, shy dogs, dogs that need training, or dogs that simply don’t fit what adopters are currently looking for.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly where many of our dogs fall.

That doesn’t mean they’re bad dogs. It just means they’re harder to place.

This is one of the reasons we’re working so hard to build our meet-and-greet and training yard. I’d love to find a few dedicated fosters willing to take a dog for even a couple of weeks to work on leash skills, confidence, and socialization. Small improvements can make a huge difference in helping a dog stand out.

But even then, training can’t change a dog’s breed, age, size, or appearance.

The good news is that the work does pay off sometimes.

Just this past week we successfully moved nine puppies.

The four puppies from the feral mama in Sneads all found opportunities:
🐾 One adopted locally
🐾 One adopted out of state
🐾 Two transferred to a shelter in New York

The five scruffy puppies from Pensacola also made their way to New York.

That means nine puppies were fostered, vaccinated, vetted, photographed, networked, coordinated, transported, and moved into the next chapter of their lives.

So please know that while you may not always see it, there is a tremendous amount of work happening behind the scenes every single day.

Now if I could just work the same magic for the rest of my dogs. ❤️🐾

🐾 Wish List Wednesday 🐾

I know it probably feels like we’re always asking for something. Truthfully, we are. 😅

When you’re caring for over 200 animals, the needs never stop. If we don’t ask, things can go from manageable to overwhelming pretty quickly. I’d much rather have donations come in little by little than wait until we’re in a crisis situation.

This week we’re getting low on:
🧻 Paper towels
🧺 Laundry soap
🧴 Bleach
🐶 Dog food

We’re also still working on raising funds for monthly preventatives. I’ve ordered part of what we need, but we’re not there yet.

Since Keith left, I’ve been trying to get back on schedule, catch up on the mountain of laundry that piled up during all the rain, and tackle some much-needed projects around the rescue. I’ll be honest—I’m not really feeling like myself lately, and everything seems to take a little longer than it used to.

If you can help in any way, it truly makes a difference. A bag of dog food, a gallon of bleach, a Tractor Supply gift card, a Chewy gift card, or even a $5 donation helps keep things moving forward.

We don’t have a large group of monthly donors, so we rely heavily on these daily posts and the kindness of people who care about what we’re doing.

As always, thank you for sticking with us, supporting us, and helping us care for the dogs that have nowhere else to go. ❤️🐾

Well… we’ve discovered yet another project we didn’t plan for. 😅

Our quarantine yard simply isn’t holding up to the amount of rain we’ve been getting. Originally, we planned to install pavers, but the location of the building causes sand and dirt to wash right over them every time we get a heavy rain, which defeats the purpose.

After a lot of discussion, we’ve decided the best solution will be to build a 12’ x 20’ raised deck off the quarantine building. This will allow dogs in quarantine to stay up off the wet ground and give us a much safer, cleaner space during bad weather.

We’re also still searching for 40-foot storage containers for the other dog yard. So far, every quote we’ve received has been between $3,000 and $3,300. If anyone happens to know of one available for less, please let us know.

Sometimes it feels like the projects never end.

Everything here works hard every single day—including the infrastructure. Fences are wearing out, buildings need repairs, and one of our dog yards is barely containing the dogs anymore. Replacing fencing is quickly moving from the “someday” list to the “must do now” list.

This rescue has grown far beyond what one person can maintain alone, and we’re reaching the point where we’re going to need more community support, more volunteers, and more helping hands to keep moving forward.

We’re not giving up. We never do. But some days it feels like every project we finish reveals two more waiting behind it. ❤️🐾
So if you have some free time and some skills with Carpentry or Fencing, we would love to hear from you. Please understand that the dogs run free on the property.

🚜 Tuesday = Feed Order Day 🚜

Well, it’s Tuesday here at the rescue, and y’all know what that means… today is feed order day. Yippee. 😂

I wish I could be more excited about it, but honestly, it’s just one more thing to do today.

I really wish Keith could be here full-time, but then who would pay the bills? ❤️

It’s getting kind of old being here by myself 24/7. And truthfully, I’m getting kind of old too. Two years ago, if the funds were available, I would have had most of these projects finished by myself already. The fence would be done. The repairs would be done. The meet-and-greet area would probably already be open.

These days, my body likes to remind me that I’m not 25 anymore. Everything takes a little longer, and some jobs that used to be easy now require an extra set of hands.

But the dogs still need feeding. The grass still grows. The laundry still piles up. The projects still need to be finished. And the rescue doesn’t stop.

So today we’ll unload feed, take care of the dogs, and keep plugging away at the never-ending to-do list. One project at a time, one bag of feed at a time, one day at a time.

🐾 Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, encourage us, and help carry this load. Some days your comments, prayers, shares, and donations help more than you know.

Now tell me… what’s something you could do easily 10 years ago that makes you groan just thinking about it today? 😂👇

She was examined for $200 and no further action taken. She meds other services so they referred her to spay bay where she had already been this morning.
They wanted another $360 for testing.
Which we just don’t have.

Good morning my awesome followers. Yes I’m leading up to asking for something. There is a homeless lady who I’ve known since before she was homeless who is at critter care in Panama City with her senior dog seeking urgent care. We just put a $200 deposit down for her to have her exam. But she’s most likely going to need medication and other things. We are financially strapped. But we couldn’t let this little dog suffer anymore. If you can help, I have attached the card with the number for credit care. The ladies name is Tabitha and her baby’s name is precious.

Just Another Manic Monday 🌪️

Last week didn’t exactly go according to plan.

Keith came home for the week, and we had a long list of projects we hoped to tackle. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas. Between the thunderstorms, lightning, and dogs that were terrified of every rumble, most of our time was spent doing what mattered most—keeping everyone safe and calm.

We did manage to get a few more feet of fence up, and every little bit helps. But if I’m being honest, it feels like we spent more time hiding from storms than making progress.

Today Keith heads back to work, and I’m pretty much right back where I started last week—one person, a whole lot of dogs, and a never-ending list of things that need to be done.

Not sure when he’ll be able to make it back. His birthday is coming up at the beginning of July, but with the cost of everything these days, another week home may not be in the cards.

That’s life sometimes. Plans change. Storms roll in. Projects get delayed.

But the dogs still need feeding. The chores still need doing. The fence still needs finishing.

So we’ll keep moving forward one day, one project, and one muddy paw print at a time. ❤️🐾

How was your week? Did the storms throw a wrench in your plans too?

I can’t believe it’s Monday already. We didn’t get any of our projects done. And then, of course we had a surprise project because of the tree. And I still have two or more Pigs wandering the pasture. Hopefully they’ll be hungry enough to go in today, but I seriously doubt it.
But Keith is leaving today and I’m back to doing things on my own. I didn’t get any rest or relaxation while he was here. Very few things were accomplished due to the weather…
