Check out this recap from our first week of classes! Our new students are off to a great start with the help of our amazing teachers. Now, on to week two... with two more years to go ! 🎉

Yesterday the Marianna Fire Department came out to teach our new residents some important safety lessons. We learned about fire safety, using a fire extinguisher, and when to call 9-1-1. We also had our first fire drill. It was so interesting learning about thermal imaging cameras and how firefighters use them. Thank you for being our guest teachers! We are thankful for how you serve our community!

Today is my FIVE year work anniversary at NextStep! From a team of 1 to a team of 10, from 0 students to two graduating classes of competitively employed adults, from an idea about short courses in addition to our Transition Academy to over 500 short course enrollments...our growth has shown the need for programs for autistic adults in our community and beyond. Most importantly, at NextStep we are CHANGING LIVES, instilling confidence, and bolstering independence. I am blessed that I get to be a part of the wonderful things happening here!

It's official! The NextStep Class of 2028 has arrived! It was a busy day of apartment walk-throughs, moving furniture, learning the basics, getting the keys, and making each space feel personal. Welcome home!

From her first day at NextStep (her birthday!) to her last day, this graduate has been a ray of sunshine. We are so pleased to welcome her as a volunteer assistant with our new group, where she will serve as a mentor and a NextStep ambassador.
