“Be realistic.”

That’s what I heard when I was little.

When asked what I wanted to be when I grow up. My classmates and friends often said: teacher, nurse or doctor…
I without hesitation always said: I wanted to be a missionary. What 7 year old says that? I did….

I thought that meant going somewhere far away, to places people call “third-world” and helping them.

I was raised in the church by parents who were dedicated to philanthropy. I admired them for their dedication and their Christian faith.

But no one told me…

Some of the deepest poverty, pain, and brokenness
exists right here at home.

I’ve looked into the eyes of children who don’t know where they’ll sleep.
I’ve held mothers who are trying to figure out how to feed their babies.
I’ve met families who have lost everything… and still show up with faith.

This isn’t across the world.

This is our backyard.

I never got on that plane like I dreamed of as a little girl.

Because God brought the mission to me.

Through The Legacy Closet… through every life we touch…
THIS is what being a missionary looks like.

It’s not glamorous.
It’s not easy.
It’s not for accolades.
But it’s real.

And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

So I’ll ask you.

Are you still chasing the life you thought you wanted when you were a child? Or are you brave enough to step into the one you were actually called to live?

PROM WITH A PURPOSE 2026!

The Legacy Closet has partnered up with Mary Ann's Foster Closet and In Jacobs Shoes to make a difference in the lives of teens this Prom season in the tri-county area.

Our mission is to provide prom dresses, handbags and shoes to teen girls and tuxedos, tuxedo shirts and shoes for teen boys that are in foster care or teens that do not have the means to afford to cover the expense.

We are off to a great start and have set a reachable number. Our goal is 3000!

We are now accepting donations of new or gently used prom items at all TLC drop sites.

We’re still collecting Easter baskets!

Thank you, Legacy Closet Family.

It was a true honor to be named a finalist in the 211 Broward Community Awards - Community Choice Catagory this year. While we did not take home the award, something far more meaningful was revealed. The strength and unity of this incredible community.

Every vote represented a voice.
Every message reflected belief.
Every person who stood with us reaffirmed something I have always known to be true.

Legacy is never built by one individual. It is built by a community that refuses to let one another fall.

Eight years ago, The Legacy Closet began in a small garage with nothing more than faith and the conviction that if we loved our community fiercely enough, we could restore dignity one family at a time.

Today, that same belief continues to grow because of all of you.

Awards may recognize organizations, but true legacy is measured by the people who stand beside you and the lives you uplift together.

And in the Legacy Closet family, we take care of our own. 💛
