COMMUNITY RESILIENCE SPOTLIGHT: HUNTER FIREHOUSE RELOCATION

One of the largest resiliency projects on this month’s agenda is the proposed relocation of the Village of Hunter Fire Department outside of the flood hazard area.

The project supports:
✔ Long-term flood resilience
✔ Protection of emergency services
✔ Future Bridge Street Bridge improvements
✔ Safer infrastructure for the community

The Village has already secured approximately:
$1.97 million in state Climate Smart Communities funding

After a previous $505k investment, the CWC Board now looks to approve additional funding of $604,632.50 for this important project!

This beautiful scene was captured just south of Roxbury’s Main Street, where the clouds seem to pause long enough to admire their own reflection.

Here's your reminder to slow down and soak in the beauty around you.

Do you live in the watershed?

Approximately 50,000 to 72,000 full- and part-time residents live within the Catskill/Delaware Watershed, spanning 41 towns and 8 villages across Delaware, Greene, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster counties.

Living in the watershed means access to programs and investments that are unique to our region. Through the Catskill Watershed Corporation, communities, homeowners, businesses, and organizations have access to funding opportunities that support economic development, infrastructure improvements, workforce development, septic system assistance, flood mitigation projects, and more.

These programs have helped bring hundreds of millions of dollars back into watershed communities over the past three decades, supporting the people, businesses, and places that make the Catskills such a special place to call home.

When homeowners participate in CWC's Septic Repair, Replacement, and Maintenance programs, they're doing more than improving their property—they're investing in the local economy.

Homeowners select and hire the engineers, designers, and contractors they wish to work with, while CWC helps offset eligible project costs through grant funding. The result? Critical infrastructure improvements for watershed residents and valuable opportunities for local businesses and skilled trades.

Its important to note that CWC does not recommend or hire engineers or contractors. Selection is solely at the discretion of homeowners. CWC offers technical support, funding, and project coordination to streamline the process for homeowners

We're proud that our programs help strengthen communities by supporting infrastructure investments, local businesses, and the people who call the Catskills home.

😊 Sunday Smiles 😊

What a fantastic day at the Pink Street Festival!

We loved meeting so many of our neighbors, handing out water conservation kits, rain gauges, and coloring sheets, and sharing a little about the programs and services available through the Catskill Watershed Corporation.

Events like these remind us that protecting our watershed starts with community—one conversation, one family, and one future water steward at a time.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, colored a page, picked up a rain gauge, or simply said hello. We had a blast!

Now we want to know: Where should we pop up next? Let us know your favorite festivals, fairs, farmers markets, and community events in the comments below. 👇

☀️ MEET THE CWC SUMMER INTERNS ☀️

My name is Dylan Braswell, and I am interning at the CWC in the Economic Development
Department. I was raised in Prattsville, NY and I am currently a senior at SUNY Canton
studying Finance. I enjoy many hobbies such as hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and golfing.

I am interning at the CWC because I was raised in the watershed and love what the CWC does for the local community and businesses, and I wanted to be a part of that for the summer.
