In addition to our senior bus transportation, Delaware County Office for the Aging partners with the Rural Health Network of South Central New York’s Getthere Mobility Management/Volunteer Transportation Service (VTS) programs to provide transportation to healthcare appointments. By combining our funding, volunteers and additional resources, we are able to serve a greater number of individuals in need of a ride to and from their medical appointments.

Heads up, neighbors, heat advisory on the way 🌡️

Temps are climbing this week, so let’s look out for each other.

✔️ Check on your neighbors - especially folks living alone, elderly neighbors, or anyone without good AC. A quick text or knock goes a long way.

✔️ Libraries are a good cool-down spot - just double check hours since they vary day to day.

✔️ Have a plan with your people - if you or someone you love has a health condition that makes heat risky, now’s the time to line up a place to go, not when it’s already 95°.

✔️ Real emergency? Call 911

Heat + humidity tips 🥵:

• Drink water before you’re thirsty
• Stick to outdoor activity early am/pm
• Wear light, loose clothing
• Cool damp cloth on wrists/neck for fast relief
• Don’t leave kids or pets in cars, even briefly

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and check in on each other. 💦💛
