A record 13 OTAT-West Texas pets found their people in August.

Cotton, Snowball, Blathers, Kicks (now Benny), Celeste, MacDaddy, Tammy, Paul Newman (now Tres), Chorizo (now Sophie), Tesoro, Rooter, Oreo and Wheezy all found their way home last month.

13 adoptions in one month. 66 OTAT-West Texas pets adopted so far in 2026. That’s 66 stories that remind us why we do what we do. With 13 more reasons to feel good this month.

Because there’s nothing quite like seeing a pet who once needed a way out finally get a place to belong. A safe place. A loving home. A favorite person. A family welcoming them with open arms. That’s the good life.

Adoptable Angus was a happy guy in the shelter, even more happy in foster (swipe to see him go from shelter smiles to full on joy in foster), and nothing would make him happier than finding a forever home.

This dog-friendly, kid-friendly cattledog is the kind of pet people are always asking about. He walks well on leash, sits great for shots, and seems to know basic commands (although, he is a bit quicker to respond if you have a treat in your hand — what a ham!).

At just 30 Ibs, Angus is the perfect “take anywhere” dog, and he looks forward to accompanying you on adventures for the rest of his days... or sleeping next to you in bed on every lazy Sunday.

Girli Pop may just be the best of the West (Texas)! This big-pawed gal is loving her time in foster doing all things Marfa- tiny hats, park romps, shop hangs, and truck rides. She is quiet, dog friendly, happy-go-lucky, and medium energy even as an adolescent. We love big dog energy!

Girli would love to find her forever home under our dark lies and beautiful mountains and is ready to slide right on in to be your faithful partner or the family mascot. She’s ready for home!

When Trinity needed help, we were able to step in without hesitation…

Swipe through Trinity’s story, from a Marfa Facebook post to emergency veterinary care, a leg amputation, foster care, and finally a loving home.

No one knows what caused Trinity’s injuries — some fresh and some old — but when he was found by a Good Samaritan and taken to the Marfa shelter, we were able to get him to the vet within 12 hours.

A complicated injury became a complicated recovery, but Trinity himself was as straightforward as they come: devoted to his people, quiet and generous, with excellent house manners, a love for other dogs, a respect for cats, and a grateful, happy countenance.

His medical care totaled more than $4,000, offset by community donations that covered just over half.

We love being a rescue that doesn’t have to crunch numbers when asked to help a suffering, homeless pet — and our community makes that possible.

Trinity found a happy home in West Texas, and member support helped him get there.

CALL FOR CRATE DONATIONS!! Swipe to see just some of the pets going on a transport on 9/13/26 but they need crates to get them all the way to the good life!

We are looking for new and gently used clean plastic crate (no collapsible or wire crates) donations, especially in a 32” size (Medium size on our TSC Wishlist).

Drop off at Pet Marfa, Alpine Animal Shelter or Pecos Animal Shelter during regular business hours (listed in the first slide).

If shopping locally, we’ve added the crates we need most to a Tractor Supply Wish List to make things easier. (Linked in our bio links) These items are available for local pick-up at either Alpine or Pecos Tractor Supply, where two of our drop off locations are! As well as most other West Texas TSC locations!

These two handsome lover-boys are ready to go home with you. Come meet them both at Pet Marfa!

Poco is at Pet Marfa TODAY from 1–3pm. Wally will be there tomorrow from 12–2pm. And honestly? We’d really like to see them both leave adopted.

Poco is a 3-year-old, 55-pound Boxer mix and certified short king. He’s happy, playful, snuggly, great with dogs and kids, walks beautifully on leash and is about as easygoing as they come.

Wally is a 4-year-old, 85-pound Rottweiler mix with a big frame and an even bigger heart. He’s friendly, dog-friendly, walks easily on leash, knows how to sit and shake, and gives the gentlest shoulder hugs to his favorite people. He was the best boy getting cleaned up for his Pet Marfa meet and greet.

Two good boys. Two days to meet them.

108 animals fixed. IN. ONE. DAY. 💪🐾

Today in Pecos, 70 dogs and 38 cats were spayed or neutered during an incredible one-day clinic at Pecos High School, made possible through a partnership between Pecos Animal Control, Whiskers and Tails Sanctuary , and One Tail at a Time - West Texas.

Three veterinarians powered through the surgeries, assisted by seven students from the Pecos High School Vet Tech program in a spectacular facility that gave them a front-row seat to animal welfare in action.

The pets were champs, their people were patient through a VERY long day, and we distributed 800 lbs of dog and cat food to Pecos families while they waited. 💙

A huge shout-out to Kristi Wright, an absolute force of nature and tireless advocate for Pecos animals, who kept the entire operation moving AND kept all of us fed! And thank you to Lori Benvenides, my OTAT partner in crime for the day, and the entire Whiskers and Tails Sanctuary team, who powered through surgery after surgery for West Texas pets.

We keep saying it because it’s true: spay and neuter IS the fix. Today, 108 more West Texas pets became part of the solution.
