Girl Scouts Marengo Troop 222 We are a Cadette Troop that loves to have fun! We enjoy adventures, learning new skills, Girl Scout traditions, and giving back to our community!

Specific to Renwick Park- The toy chest, bird houses, and Buddy Bench were built by us for the community to enjoy when we were in the 4th & 5th grades.

We are devastated that our plaque was ripped off of our Buddy Bench, snapped in half, and then just thrown to the ground. We were devastated to find out all except one of our bird houses were forcefully removed. We are heartbroken that people are drawing on our toy chest and using chalk around the park for profanity, racial slurs, and inappropriate drawings. This is a location for CHILDREN so please be mindful of your actions. Parents- Please talk with your kids to let them know how hurtful it is if they participate in actions like this. Not only to us who worked hard to build all of this (also we work very hard in our Cookie Season and Fall Product Program to raise funds to keep filling the toy chest), but also to the rest of the community and anyone that goes to the park.

We only can budget so much money per year to be restocking the toy chest and are so beyond grateful for the generous community members who have donated items to it as well. So this being said, please make sure the toys are being cared for and put away after they are done being played with.

The new replacement plaque for our Buddy Bench has been installed. 🎉 Thank you to Belia Grygo/Accolades Laser Engraving for not only making our original plaques, but for being extremely prompt to get us a new (and stronger) one to replace it.

We decided to wait a little bit to see if the vandalism at Renwick Park stopped before installing the new plaque. In regard to the vandalism here or at any of our local Park District parks, Marengo Park District said to alert them immediately if you see anything. Thank you and please spread the word!

Two of our Scouts earned the Creation Station reward for selling 600 or more packages of cookies. 🍪 Today, one of them went to one of our resource centers to design and make her items! She made both her hoodie and her hat! 🤩

Some of us joined in today’s community clean up event for Beautify Marengo IL’s Earth Week clean up.

We have been going out every Earth Day (or a surrounding day within Earth Week) every year we’ve been a Troop. So today marks our 7th year. This is BY FAR the most community support we have seen for Earth Day. 🌎 So THANK YOU to all of the amazing volunteers who have been out all week and are going out the rest of the week. We appreciate all that YOU are doing for our community!
