When pets are exposed to opioids, quick recognition and the right action matter. We train outreach teams to spot signs like extreme drowsiness, slow breathing, limp body, or unresponsiveness in animals. Narcan (naloxone) can temporarily reverse opioid effects, but lay administration to pets has limits and should never replace veterinary care. If you suspect exposure, call a veterinarian or emergency clinic immediately and contact local responders. Families of Grace shares this guidance from our outreach and training work to help keep people and pets safer.
