We continue to learn about the lighthouse keepers!

The next keeper is David L. Dayton. Dayton was born in 1818. David Dayton was from Halifax, Vermont. He married Martha Jane Deneal of New York. They had five children: Amelia, George, Mary Ann, Edgar, and Alice. David was the 8th lightkeeper from 1859 to 1861. When he wasn’t a lightkeeper, David was a sailor and a ship’s carpenter. He passed away in 1885 and is buried in Gypsum, Ohio.
