⛺ 𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬! 🌲

Troop 79 just wrapped up an incredible 7 days at Hidden Valley (Griswold Scout Reservation)! It was a week packed with grit, craft, adventure, and plenty of laughs.

Here are a few highlights from our week:

🏅 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐝: The Scouts put in serious work earning badges across the board—from heavy academic lifts like Environmental Science to hands-on crafts like Leatherwork and Metalwork, with a few sharp matches of Chess in between!

🥾 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: The troop tackled a grueling 5-mile hike, summiting TWO mountain peaks. They earned every bit of cool-down time that followed!

🌊 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐅𝐮𝐧: From kayaking and wild games of water basketball to tie-dyeing and perfecting the art of the camp campfire s’more.
Most importantly, our Scouts grew closer, built resilience, and made lifelong friends. Huge thank you to the leaders and parents who helped make this week such a resounding success!

Eagle Scout Project Spotlight: Nate!

Over the weekend of May 2-3, Nate led an incredible effort to transform an overgrown patch of land at the Marblehead Community Charter Public School into a beautiful, functional outdoor learning space filled with native plants. 🌿🎒

An Eagle Scout project is the culmination of years of scouting, and it demands an immense amount of planning, leadership, and grit. Nate stepped up to the challenge flawlessly—coordinating logistics, directing a large crew of volunteers, and keeping everyone motivated across two full days of hard work.

🛠️ By The Numbers:
* 2 Days of intense digging, clearing, and planting.
* Many volunteers (scouts, parents, and community members) mobilized.
* 1 Beautiful new space that MCCPS students will use and learn from for years to come!

Nate lived this Scout Oath over the weekend, ensuring safety, clear communication, and a fantastic final result.

A massive THANK YOU to all the scouts, parents, and community members who came out to swing a shovel, rake, pull vines, remove trees, or cheer the team on. We couldn't have done it without this amazing village.

From Ice Axes to Swimming Trunks! ❄️🏊‍♂️

Our crew returned Sunday from a legendary winter weekend at New England Base Camp. Here’s the "chill" recap:

• The Cabin: We spent two nights in the Sagamore. Despite the heat being on high, it stayed a "balmy" 50-60°F—perfect for testing those winter sleeping bags!

• The Saturday Pivot: We spent the morning ice climbing in a snowstorm, then spent the afternoon thawing out in the pool.

• The Food: After snowshoeing back to base, we refueled with a massive chili dinner and peach cobbler.

• The Deep Freeze: We woke up Sunday to a crisp 2°F morning, packed up after a quick bagel breakfast, and made the snowy trek back to Marblehead.

Huge props to the Scouts for showing some serious grit in the New England cold! ⚜️

MHD Troop 79 is on the move in Newburyport!

We kicked off the weekend with a hike through the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge on Plum Island, exploring the trails and spotting wildlife along the way.

Tonight, we’ve taken over MetroRock Newburyport for private climbing where Scouts are learning to belay, pushing themselves on the walls, and cheering each other on. The energy is high, the teamwork is strong, and yes, everyone is fueled by plenty of pizza.

We’ll be bedding down inside the gym tonight and wrapping up in the morning after breakfast before heading home.

Another great adventure in the books for Troop 79.
