Today 4 dedicated FFA members came into school to run the Marathon FFA booth at the freshmen orientation.
So so proud of all of the hard work these 4 ladies put into making this booth thoughtful and educational for all of the freshmen who are considering branching out and becoming a member of our chapter.

🐓 Have you ever watched the poultry show?

Showmanship is one-on-one with the judge. You must explain everything you know about your chosen bird: correct weight, history, coloring, feathering, defects of that particular breed, faults, and weaknesses. Birds must be handled correctly, including putting them in and out of a cage. Exhibitors must also know the nomenclature of the bird: identifying all parts and anatomy correctly. Lots of studying is involved!

Birds are also then judged in their respective breed class against others of the same breed at the show. They must present specific breed characteristics and have proper anatomy. It is the exhibitor's job to pick their best animals from their flock, finding the flaws and breeding for perfection.

Marathon County Farm Bureau has been a key sponsor in some of our FFA events, including a farm-focused conference called Farm Forum and our annual Thank A Farmer initiative. We value our partnership with the Farm Bureau and are grateful for their support of our chapter!

How do you give the judge the best view?

One life lesson these kids may not even realize they're learning is how to present something other than themselves. In the show ring, their job is to consistently showcase their pig—highlighting its style, movement, and overall presence—all while staying calm in the middle of complete chaos. (I dare you to turn 10 pigs loose in a pen and try it yourself! 🫣)

It takes focus, patience, quick thinking, and determination. Watching these young exhibitors work through the challenges and continue putting their best foot forward is always impressive.

The ribbons are great, but the skills they're building along the way will last a lifetime. ❤️🐷

🐷🐔 Tomorrow is Show Day for our swine and poultry exhibitors!

Be sure to stop by the fairgrounds and support these hardworking youth as they showcase the projects they've spent months raising and caring for. From early mornings to daily chores, their dedication and commitment are on full display during fair week.

We wish all of our swine and poultry exhibitors the best of luck in the show ring tomorrow. Have fun, do your best, and enjoy the experience!

This right here is what it's all about.

It's not the ribbons. It's not the trophies. It's not even the applause.

It's the conversations between judges and exhibitors. It's the immediate feedback, the encouragement, and the teaching moments that happen right in the ring. It's a knowledgeable adult taking a few extra minutes to help a young person learn, grow, and gain confidence in their project.

The impact of a great judge lasts far longer than fair week. Thank you to all of the judges who invest in our youth and make these experiences meaningful. Your words, advice, and encouragement help shape the next generation far more than you may realize. ❤️

Another busy day at the fair! ☀️🐴🐄

Today our exhibitors are showing horses, beef, and dairy animals, with the sheep show kicking off after lunch. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and countless hours these youth have invested in preparing their projects for the fair.

If you're at the fairgrounds today, be sure to stop by and cheer on our exhibitors as they showcase their skills and represent our community. Good luck to everyone showing today—we can't wait to see all of your accomplishments!

🎡 🐕 First official day of the Wisconsin Valley Fair is here and kicked off with the dog show. It was a super proud moment to see this show ring full of current AND past Marathon FFA members!

👑 We even have one serving as Wisconsin Valley Fairest of the Fair and handing out ribbons to exhibitors!

Make sure you check out all of the hard work these kids have put in! This truly is the best week with memories to be made and accomplishments to be celebrated 🥳
