That’s Our Founder! 🏆✨

Congratulations to Team Unscreen founder Dana Siomkos, Dana Siomkos on being named South Orange Villager of the Month!

Mayor Sheena Collum presented Dana with the award last night, honoring her leadership in bringing families together to rethink tech and where we put our attention as a community. But as Dana so generously shared, this award belongs to each parent in our community who has joined us in this mission to preserve childhood and create meaningful connection for our kids.

Thank you, Dana, for all you do everyday for our community, Mayor Collum, for recognizing Dana’s work in building this movement, and thank you to every family across the South Orange & Maplewood School District that stands with us! 🙌💙

📣 Parents: This is one of those moments when your voice can actually help shape what happens next.

The FCC is currently accepting public comments on proposed changes to E-Rate — the federal program that helps fund internet access and technology in our schools.

If you have thoughts about how technology is being used in our schools — and what you want the future of learning to look like for our kids — this is an opportunity to say so.

It’s quick, easy, and free to submit a public comment, and comments are open through October 13.

We spend a lot of time talking with each other about screens, EdTech and the role technology should play in our children’s education. Here’s an opportunity to put those opinions somewhere they can be part of the public record.

A BIG 👏 for South Orange & Maplewood School District as we head into the new school year!

We’re thrilled to see meaningful steps toward a healthier, more intentional relationship with technology in our schools — including bell-to-bell phone-free school days, Chromebooks staying at school for K–5, no Chromebook use during lunch/recess, reduced use of programs like iReady, more curated digital access, and increased parental oversight.

These changes create more space for what kids need most: learning, focus, play, conversation and connection. 💛

Thank you to our district leaders for listening, evolving and putting student well-being at the center. This is real progress — and something worth celebrating! 👏📚✨
