We are a local neighborhood association for the neighborhood known as Hilton in Maplewood NJ. We have monthly meetings to inform our neighbors about what is going on in the community and sometimes just to get together and enjoy a movie or music. The first president of the HNA was Vic DeLuca who worked with residents to establish by-laws, hold monthly meetings and respond to concerns of the neighbo
rs. Presently the Hilton area is an integrated neighborhood, with well-kept homes, a vibrant Hilton Library, a recently updated DeHart Park and playing field, an attractive shopping area on Springfield Avenue and a population which is diverse by race, income, sexual orientation and age. Many musicians have moved to the area because the houses are affordable. The Hilton Neighborhood Association meets on the third Thursday of each month, usually in DeHart Community Center, 120 Burnett Avenue at 7:30 PM. The Mayor, the Police Chief, the Fire Chief and other Township officials often speak at HNA meetings to keep citizens informed. Each year the HNA holds candidates forums seats. The HNA usually holds a movie-in-the-park night in DeHart Park each July. Also on the agenda are presentations about issues that arise that will affect the lives of residents, the character of the neighborhood, or other local situations. The HNA usually plans an annual social evening at a local restaurant on Springfield Avenue. Membership fees are $15 for a single member, $20 for a family and $10 for a senior citizen. We accept payment via check mailed to PO Box 1305, Maplewood, NJ 07040 OR by Venmo . The fee is used to pay for the printing and mailing of a monthly newsletter which keeps members aware of upcoming events and current Township Committee decisions. The HNA also donates to several local and national organizations, as well as to residents in need. All meetings are free and open to the public. Everyone is invited to attend.
