This month, the four candidates running for the SOMSD Board of Education have been invited to join us to hear your experiences with Special Education in our school district.

Each year SEPAC SOMA invites SOMSD Board of Education candidates to respond to several questions about issues related to Special Education in our district. We are pleased to share with you the 2026 BOE Candidate Responses to our questionnaire. We thank all the candidates for taking the time to share their perspectives.

SEPAC is not a political organization and does not endorse candidates in any election.

SEPAC SOMA has been busy this month speaking with district leaders and the Board of Education about the paraprofessional transition, IEP mandated transportation, Out of District families, Frontline access, and self contained classrooms.

We hope you’ll join us for the first SEPAC SOMA Cup Chat of the school year. Our informal, in-person gatherings are a great way to connect with other parents and caregivers of kids with IEPs, 504s, and Special Education-related needs in our district.

Our September meeting is BYOC … bring your own cup. We’d love to hear from you about how SEPAC SOMA can best support you throughout the school year.

Your feedback, your experiences, your highs and lows … that’s the heart of what we do as an advisory group. We listen, we look for trends, and we share what’s working – and what really, really isn’t working – with the district, constantly advocating for the well-being and growth of our kids.

TONIGHT!
One of our favorite get-togethers of the year … our annual Dope, Nope & Hope meeting, where we reflect on how this school year went and look ahead to summer and next fall.

At the meeting, we'll continue our tradition of giving everyone a chance to share their DOPE, NOPE & HOPE of the year. So, think about:
• One thing that went well
• One not-so-good thing
• One thing you hope for your child in the future
