This is what 3944 face shield frames and 4005 clear sheets looks like all bundled in 5s and ready to ship out to Navajo Nation’s Kayenta Unified School District in Arizona. Not included here are 1000 face masks also donated by the members of this group.
While around here we engage in debates on whether to open schools in the Fall, or how to do it, these people have no choice - for their students, remote schooling is not possible - an overwhelming majority don’t have running water at home, never mind the internet access!
To all the wonderful Printers, huge thank you for stepping up once more and providing safety tools to the most vulnerable and the most in need! And for showing them that people care! I think every shield carries a little bit of our hearts with it!

On June 20th, the co-admins of SOMA NJ 3D Printers Alliance became aware of a GoFundMe campaign created by a group of South Orange/Maplewood parents with the goal of paying off Jake Ezzo’s college loans. The fundraiser, which was posted to our group page by a member, attributes much of SOMANJ3DPA’s achievements to Jake and uses the group as one of the main reasons for donating to the fundraiser, while overlooking the extent to which SOMANJ3DPA has always been a collective effort.

Our group was formed to produce and donate face shields to front line workers during the COVID-19 public health crisis. Although we appreciate Jake’s efforts in co-founding the group and donating face shields, we do not condone the use of the group’s activities as leverage for personal gain. The group’s goal has always been to provide a public benefit through volunteer work, and our ability to succeed relies on community trust that none of our members personally profit from the efforts of the group. We take that trust very seriously.

We would like to reassure everyone that all funds raised through the SOMA NJ 3D Printer Alliance GoFundMe campaign have been used to produce and donate face shields.
We greatly appreciate the selflessness, dedication, and resources all of our volunteers and donors have contributed to the cause, and we hope to continue to aid frontline workers together.

We encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to us.
