For our final engagement event, we had Mapletonians and other related parties put together implementation plans for the Campground & Walkability projects.

At this event, we will facilitate discussion between community members to discover the process of implementation for two student-designed projects. We want want to hear from you because we believe that community input is key for establishing ownership of these projects. As students, we are interested in seeing how these partnerships are created, and how community interaction can shape the town. We are looking forward to this event and how the Mapleton community puts these projects into action!

In our final review, held at the College of Design at Iowa State University, we gave final presentations as a group of the five projects (Trailhead, Walkability, Campground, Nature Play, and Trail Extension). We also invited many professionals of varying backgrounds (Landscape Architects, City Planners, Professors), as well as Doug Hagemann & Marie Whiteing, to help us assess the needs of each project in order to be built.

These are photos from the event held on November 16th in Mapleton. The event included presentations of the five projects (Trailhead, Walkability, Campground, Nature Play, and Trail Extension), as well as interactive portions. We were encouraged hearing from the Community, and look forward to hearing more soon.

The Arthur Carhart Trail's first phase of construction is finished! We had the opportunity to get out and take a walk on it this past weekend, and it was beautiful. Everybody should get up and try it out!
