Founded in 1989, TSF is a community organization that exists to fill the gap in educational funding

In 1989, Business Leaders and Community Members recognized that State funding did not fully support the comprehensive education Tahoma students needed to succeed in becoming “Future Ready.” Tahoma Schools Foundation was founded as a non-profit organization to meet try to help address these needs. The purpose of the Tahoma Schools Foundation was, and remains, to provide supplementary support for a range of needs and opportunities for students not otherwise available. Since that time the State funding gap between “per student revenue” and the cost to meet the complex educational needs for 21st century learners continues to increase. Many people are not aware that school districts with recognized excellent instructional programs as Tahoma in generally stable and progressive communities, and with less overall poverty than many cities receive significantly less revenue per student — particularly from the federal government. Building upon the momentum of the theme embraced overwhelmingly by the school community in recent elections that “Tahoma Kids Come First!”, the Tahoma Schools Foundation is currently increasing efforts to provide additional support for the Tahoma School District to assure that all students have a full opportunity to become “Future Ready.”

Did you know state funding doesn’t fully cover what our students need to truly thrive?

Since 1989, the Tahoma Schools Foundation has been bridging that gap. Because Tahoma isn’t a high-poverty district, we actually receive significantly less state and federal funding per student than many surrounding areas, despite the growing cost of a complex, modern education.

We believe Tahoma Kids Come First! ✨ Through community support, we raise critical funds to ensure every student gets the resources, tools, and opportunities they need to become Truly Future Ready.
