Introducing Interact Club Diaspora Youth

Many immigrant families from around the world have made the United States their home. While parents work hard to build a new life, many young people are still searching for a sense of belonging, identity, leadership, and connection in their new country.

That is why we proudly sponsor the Interact Club Diaspora Youth.

We invite families from all backgrounds to join us in connecting their children with some of the brightest and most motivated young people around the world. Through leadership development, cultural exchange, community service, friendship, and global learning, our youth gain the skills and confidence to thrive while staying connected to their roots.

Together, we are building the next generation of global leaders, young people who celebrate their heritage, embrace diversity, and make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

This weekend, we proudly celebrated the chartering of the Rotary Club of I-94 Inclusive. What an incredible gathering of Rotary leaders, community leaders, and diverse community members united by a shared vision for service.

Our club is committed to Rotary’s Action Plan by focusing on four priorities: Engagement, Adaptability, Reach, and Impact.

We will engage people through meaningful service, adapt to a changing world through innovation and technology, expand our reach by welcoming new voices and partnerships, and increase our impact through measurable and sustainable projects.

This is more than a new Rotary club, it is a commitment to building a more inclusive, responsive, and impactful future for Rotary and our communities.

This weekend, we proudly celebrated the chartering of the Rotary Club of I-94 Inclusive, a milestone that represents far more than the launch of a new Rotary club,it marks the beginning of a new chapter in service, inclusion, and innovation.

We were honored by the presence of distinguished Rotary leaders, including Tom Gump, regional leaders such as my mentor Lloyd Campbell, our District Governor Mark Shockey, Past District Governor Sharon Bloodworth, community leaders, and members representing the rich diversity of our communities.

The chartering of the Rotary Club of I-94 Inclusive signals our commitment to advancing Rotary’s Action Plan throughout our district and beyond. While honoring Rotary’s proud legacy, we are embracing a culture that is forward-looking, inclusive, and rooted in evidence-based service. Our focus will be on impactful projects and initiatives that create measurable, sustainable outcomes and improve lives for generations to come.

We are committed to:

* Expanding Rotary’s reach by welcoming new audiences and underrepresented communities.
* Building innovative partnerships that strengthen our impact.
* Bridging cultural, generational, and socioeconomic divides.
* Creating meaningful opportunities for leadership development, networking, and service.

I personally would like to congratulate our community for allowing me to respond to a need that I saw firsthand.

As a Rotarian and as the District 5950 Chair of Belonging, I witnessed situations where diversity, inclusion, and belonging were not fully embraced. I knew that Rotary’s values call us to do better. Rotary challenges us to seek diverse membership, connect with new audiences, build meaningful relationships across cultures and generations, create opportunities for service, and embrace innovation and flexibility in a changing world.

Faced with that reality, I had a choice. I could allow frustration to drive me away from Rotary, or I could help create the kind of Rotary culture that reflects the values we promote. I chose action.

Instead of leaving Rotary, I helped create a new Rotary club built on inclusion, belonging, respect, and opportunity for all. Today, the Rotary Club of I-94 Inclusive stands as a place where everyone is welcome, everyone has value, and everyone can make a difference through service.

This club belongs to the community. It belongs to those who have felt left out, overlooked, or simply never invited. It belongs to those who want to serve, grow, lead, and build friendships while making our communities and our world better.

The door is open. The invitation is extended. We welcome you to join us as we serve our local communities and our world together.
