Portage Girls Softball is looking for anyone aged 15 and up to be an umpire for our league! We are primarily based in Portage County.

Games are typically played Monday-Friday, start at 6:15pm and go until about dark. The pay is $50 for a 10U/12U game and $60 for 14U games. We offer free training and can assist helping get started as an umpire.

This is a great way to make a little extra money while having fun and being outside!

Portage Girls Softball is in need of umpires for this upcoming season. Anyone aged 16 and up can become an umpire and requires no certifications. There are only a few training sessions to attend that are no charge to those interested and will teach you all of the rules. No experience necessary!

Pay is $45 for 10U/12U/14U games and $25 for Coach Pitch. Cash is given before the start of the game. You can choose how many games per week you want to umpire from 1 to 6.

Couple quick notes...

Fall season starts 8/2
10 games double header format
75 minute finish the inning
$400/team for 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U
$600/team 18U
$50 discount per team from same community.
All coaches need background and concussion by July 29. No exceptions.
Rosters can be 9 players (more details later)
Every coach will be required to have a completed roster with BIRTH CERTIFICATES. No previous approved roster will be excepted. This is not up for debate or exception.
1 team per player (no multiple teams)
Covid waivers will be required for coaches, players, umpires

Deadlines:
Expected teams: 7/15
Background checks: 7/29

There are additional details that I will send later including Covid-19 guidelines for teams, balls, how to turn in rosters, etc. Please be patient. It will take us a couple days to update the website with everything. We'll email reps as well.

The Board met virtually Monday night.

We are looking for a tentative start of August 2.

We are hammering out details related to cost, number of games, rules, roster turn in, location, and waivers, etc.

Covid-19 waivers will be required by every parent of a child playing on file with the league. No waiver, no play. We are drawing these up for everyone.

Please remain patient with us while we navigate through this.
