Dare County Shrine Club

Dare County Shrine Club "No man ever stood so tall as when he kneeled down to help a crippled child" We are an appendant body of freemasonry.

Operating under the authority of Sudan Shrine, New Bern, NC and Shriners International, Tampa, Florida. Our primary goal is to raise money and support the operation of 22 children's hospitals in three countries. The Dare County Shrine Club also operates the Outer Banks Beach Bums parade unit.

The Winter Ceremonial scheduled for this weekend in New Bern – January 23 – 24, 2026 has been cancelled because of inclement weather expected.

If you have reservations at hotels other than the Courtyard Marriott (headquarters), please remember to cancel. A blanket cancellation for the Courtyard Marriott has been done.

Another email will be sent out later today with arrangements for the Annual Stated Meeting, once a dispensation has been received from Shriners International.

Washington Regional Medical Center and Shriners Children’s Partner to Bring Pediatric Orthopedic Care Closer to Tyrrell County Families

Tyrrell County, NC – Exciting news for families in Tyrrell County! Washington Regional Medical Center (WRMC) and Shriners Children’s in Greenville, South Carolina, are teaming up to provide local access to world-class pediatric orthopedic care. This collaboration aims to support the health and well-being of children in the Tyrrell County community by bringing specialized medical services closer to home.

A recent meeting was held with stakeholders to discuss the partnership plan with Shriner's Children Hospital, and the engagement and knowledge of the attendees were greatly appreciated. The goal of this partnership is to positively assist the county and its families by increasing awareness among children, parents, and the entire Tyrrell County community.

Shriners Children’s in Greenville is home to the largest pediatric orthopedic team in the Carolinas, treating over 85 different bone, joint, and muscle conditions. Through this partnership, families in Tyrrell County can now access Shriners Children’s expertise by scheduling telehealth appointments at Washington Regional Medical Center. This eliminates the need for extensive travel for initial consultations and follow-up appointments.

"Thank you all for the time, attention, and great discussion yesterday. Y’all had some great questions!" said a representative from WRMC. The initiative reflects an agreement to “be our eyes and ears” and help bring these vital services to the children and families of Tyrrell County.

To access these services, families can follow a clear referral process. A referral form is available, and Daniele Davis, RN, who runs the Ambulatory Specialty Clinic, will serve as the primary point of contact for any questions regarding an individual child/family. The completed “Referral Form” should be submitted to Daniele, who will then guide the family through the next steps, including scheduling the initial assessment. Washington Regional Medical Center is also offering tours of their facility, highlighting their renewed commitment to serving the region.

Shriners Children’s provides care regardless of a family’s ability to pay, ensuring that all children have access to the specialized orthopedic care they need. This partnership will make a significant difference in the lives of children and families in Tyrrell County, offering convenient access to trusted leaders in orthopedic care for kids.
