Together with Outer Banks Health and Thrive OBX, the Outer Banks Community Foundation is proud to sponsor the second annual Woods Walk for the Kerry Sanders Memorial Fund.

Kerry Sanders touched countless lives through her passion for fitness, her gift for making everyone feel welcome, and her belief in the power of movement and community—a legacy that lives on through the Woods Walk and the memorial fund established in her honor at the Community Foundation.

The event will be held on Sunday, October 25 at 11am, starting at the Outer Banks YMCA's Upper Lot.

The 4th Annual OBX Chasing Rainbows 5K and Fun Run is this Sunday (October 18) at 8:30am in Kill Devil Hills.

The Chasing Rainbows 5k is an annual charity race that occurs every October to pay tribute to Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month. Proceeds raised from the race go directly towards free grief counseling and providing grief support toolkits for bereaved families.

In March of this year, OBCF awarded a $10,000 Community Enrichment Grant to the Community Care Clinic of Dare to support the Tooth Fairy Fund.

The fund, administered through the Community Care Clinic of Dare in partnership with Interfaith Community Outreach, provides financial assistance for medically necessary dental treatment for qualifying uninsured adults.

We partnered with our friends at Visit The Outer Banks to co-host the 4th Annual Nonprofit Knowledge Series Workshop – “Purpose and Nonprofit Thriving” – on September 25 at the Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese.

Our office on Roanoke Island will be closed today and tomorrow (October 7th & 8th), while our staff is out of town for a conference.

The office will reopen with normal hours on Friday, October 9.

Films, live music, art, food vendors, and a raffle benefiting OBX Room In The Inn and Croatoan Archaeological Society!

The Last Swell OBX Surf, Film, Art, & Music Festival will be held at Village Beach Club in Nags Head on Sunday, October 18 from 12pm to 8pm.

This event is free and open to everyone.

Tomorrow local nonprofit the Don & Catharine Bryan Cultural Series is hosting An Evening of Poetry with NC Poet Laureate, Jaki Shelton Green and the NC Youth Poet Laureates at Theatre of Dare in Kitty Hawk at 7pm.

Jaki Shelton Green is North Carolina’s first African American and third woman to serve as State Poet Laureate. An award-winning poet, educator, and advocate for the literary arts, she has spent decades helping writers of all ages discover, develop, and strengthen their voices.

It is with great sadness that the Outer Banks Community Foundation honors the passing of Eden Eure Honeycutt. Known for her joyful personality and for helping those less fortunate, Eden will be remembered for her kindness and her dedication to the Outer Banks community. She will be deeply missed, and our thoughts are with her family and all who knew and loved her.
