Manteno St. Baldrick's Event

Manteno St. Baldrick's Event The Annual Manteno St. Baldrick's head shaving event to support pediatric cancer research will be held on March 14, 2020 at 2 P.M. St.

Baldrick’s Day will look a little different this year. We’re moving things to the Fall. Baldrick’s is an annual charity head shaving event that raises money to support pediatric cancer research. For the third straight year, the Manteno Sportsman's Club edition of St. Baldrick’s will take place at the Manteno Sportsman’s Club on March 12, 2022. The opening ceremonies will begin at 2 P.M. The day wi

ll be filled with music, raffles, food, drink, and head shaving. Baldrick’s is a charitable organization that provides support for pediatric cancer research through grants that are awarded to doctors working to advance the fight against pediatric cancers. Pediatric cancer is a severely underfunded area of cancer research. Only 4% of federal cancer research funding goes towards pediatric cancer. In fact, there have only been a few instances of the development of new pediatric cancer drugs in the last 30 years. Over the last 9 years, the Manteno Sportsman's event raised almost $700,000. The event will once again draw support from The Paul Mitchell Beauty School based in Bradley, IL. The students and staff from Paul Mitchell will be handling all of the heavy work of shaving the heads of all of this year’s participants. We are looking for participants to raise funds and shave their heads to show support to children affected by cancer. If you are not in the head shaving mood, you can still support this year’s event by sponsoring another shavee, volunteering to help at the event, or donating a basket for our raffle auction. If you are interested in getting involved to you can register as a shavee or as a volunteer at https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/Manteno2021. You can also get involved by contacting Tony Worsham at (815) 954-7326 or at [email protected]

Our Story

As the Irish eyes are turning towards March and St. Patrick’s Day, the Manteno St. Baldrick’s event is preparing for its 9th annual head shaving event. The Manteno event is the area’s largest pediatric cancer research fundraiser. The annual Manteno St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 1 P.M at the Manteno Sportsmen’s Club. All proceeds from this event benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research.

Locally, the Manteno St. Baldrick’s event has raised over $630,000 and shaved over 850 heads in its 8 years, all in the name of curing pediatric cancer. Paul Mitchell the school Bradley will be on hand to take care of all of the head shaving duties. The local school provides all of the equipment and brings their community outreach team of students to help the event run smoothly.

The day will be filled with the air of a St. Patrick’s Day celebration. There will be music provided by Chicago based DJ Danny “The Core-Bot” Corbett. Master of Ceremonies, James Field will be on hand again this year to steer fur flying ship. There will be raffles, a cash bar, and Mia Bella’s Pizza truck will be on-site. The day truly is a St. Patrick’s Day Fest fueled with goodwill and cheer for a great cause.

If you are interested in joining us by shaving your head, donating, or providing sponsorship for the event, you may register at https://www.stbaldricks.org/events/Manteno2020 or you may contact Tony Worsham at [email protected] or (815) 954-7326 for more information.
