🌼 Creativity, confidence, and community! 🌼

Spark Academy students kicked off the week with two meaningful activities. First, they created flower vases that showcased their personal strengths, accomplishments, and new skills they've developed along the way 🌸✨

Then, students shared what community means to them and designed community goal posters filled with ideas for making a positive impact 🤝💙

It's amazing to see our students recognize their own growth while also thinking about how they can help others grow too!

🌸🧩 Growth looks different for every student, and this week, students at EPIC Academy had the opportunity to celebrate both their individuality and their connection to others through two meaningful enrichment activities.

During Bloom Into Yourself, students reflected on their personal and academic journeys, identifying the ways they have grown, overcome challenges, and developed new skills. Using creativity and self-expression, they designed symbolic flower arrangements that represented the unique qualities, strengths, and goals that make them who they are.

Students also participated in Piece Perfect, a collaborative activity designed to highlight the importance of teamwork, diversity, and belonging. Each student created a personalized puzzle piece that reflected their personality and experiences. When assembled together, the pieces formed a class masterpiece, demonstrating how every individual contributes something valuable to the larger community.

These activities encouraged students to build confidence, practice self-reflection, celebrate their differences, and discover the power of working together. We're proud to provide enriching experiences that help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally every day.

💙 Volunteer Spotlight ✨

Meet Diana! We're proud to spotlight Diana, a dedicated volunteer who generously gave her time to support Red, White & Brew, one of GECAC's signature fundraising events. Passionate about giving back to her community, Diana believes that every child deserves access to opportunities, mentorship, and encouragement to succeed. 🌟

When Diana first became involved with GECAC, she was looking for a meaningful way to support an organization making a positive difference for local children and families. GECAC's mission resonated with her because she believes in helping young people reach their full potential and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

Since February 2026, Diana has volunteered her time to assist with various event-related activities supporting Red, White & Brew. Whether helping where needed or lending an extra hand behind the scenes, her willingness to step in and contribute helped support the event's success and GECAC's mission. 🍻

What Diana enjoys most about volunteering is knowing that even small acts of service can make a meaningful difference. Through tutoring, mentorship, fundraising events, and community partnerships, GECAC brings people together around a shared commitment to helping children succeed.

🌟 Discovering Who We Are, One Drawing at a Time! 🌟

Our River Islands Technology Academy Afterschool Program students recently completed their first Health Education lesson of the year, focused on self-reflection, self-awareness, and embracing what makes each of us unique. Through a creative dual self-portrait activity, students drew half of their face and filled the other half with the interests, hobbies, passions, and things that bring them joy.

As students reflected on their true selves, they explored what makes them special, discussed their goals, and considered the kind of person they hope to become as they continue to grow. The activity sparked meaningful conversations as students shared common interests, learned more about one another, and gained a deeper understanding of themselves.

This lesson encouraged students to appreciate both their inner and outer selves while recognizing and celebrating the differences that make everyone unique. Most importantly, it created a safe space for self-expression, confidence-building, and connection with peers 🎨✨💭💙

🪞💛 GECAC Health Lesson Spotlight! 💛🪞

This week, our Spark Academy students read The Reflection In Me and explored what makes each of us unique. After the story, students completed a creative activity by drawing how they look on the outside and how they feel on the inside🎨✨

The lesson encouraged self-awareness, confidence, and understanding that our personalities are made up of so much more than what others can see. We loved seeing the students express themselves through art, and it was amazing to hear even our youngest learners share meaningful reflections about the story.
