In partnership with Washington State GEAR UP, on September 22 Manson Secondary welcomed guest speaker Alex Green for an all-school assembly. Alex is a former NFL running back, author, and youth advocate through his Dream and Believe foundation. In the assembly, Alex stressed the importance of responding to life’s triumphs and setbacks, taking time to Reflect, Reset, and Rise – and finding the “why” behind our dreams that keeps us going. 📣SPRING GEAR UP NEWSLETTER - Spring field trips kept us moving, but our students have been working just as hard in the classroom to build their futures! A highlight this season was our new "Cross-Mentoring" activity. High school seniors stepped into 8th-grade classrooms to pass down the torch, sharing firsthand advice and tools on how to successfully plan for life after graduation.

Collaboration alert: Thanks to a partnership between GEAR UP, WVC, and Manson School District, incoming seniors got a head start on college life with a special campus tour, account setup, and orientation. GEAR UP + Manson 10th Graders visited Eastern Washington University last week. They spent time checking out the campus, the town, and what college life might look like as an Eagle.

Manson 9th graders visited the Rocky Reach dam this week. During their visit, students completed a questionnaire about their working styles to find out if they were “organizers, doers, leaders, thinkers, or helpers,” and which careers with the PUD align with their interests. Students also learned about potential summer camp opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships. A special thanks to Manson grad Lupe Peterson ‘85 for the great tour!

Family Financial Aid Night will take place on Tuesday, March 31 from 5–7 PM in the high school computer lab. This is a great opportunity to get your questions answered and explore financial aid options as your senior approaches graduation.
