Today went much better with 16 helpers. We planted 2,000 flowers between yesterday and today. The planting is complete. Thanks to all that came out this morning to lend a hand.

We couldn't get all the flowers planted today. We probably got a little more than 1/2 done. We will try again tomorrow morning at 10am. WE NEED HELP! Please come out and lend a hand.

I picked up the flowers today and we are ready to go! 10am tomorrow morning at Liberty Park. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Please come out and lend a hand.

Im glad the flowers seem to be high quality. The grids are in place at the site and we are "GO" for tomorrow's planting. The clipboards would make the process run smoother, but we will make due. They may sell 8 x 10 clipboards at the dollar store if you are out and about. The group may want to bring knee pads or kneeling pads because the mulch only looks soft. They should also bring sunscreen, water bottles, maybe a snack. We could also use a couple box cutters or knives to cut through the cardboard that may be in the way as they plant. Other than that, I will be on site at 9:30 to make sure everything made it through the night. Fingers crossed! If you need anything, let me know, otherwise, I'll see you tomorrow. -Paco

Reminder for this coming Friday at 10am to plant flowers around the flagpole at Liberty Park. This is important to complete our Day of Service that we began earlier this month. A few gardening tools have been requested. Here is the list:

Observed on the last Monday in May, Memorial Day is an annual day of remembrance to honor all those who died in service to the U.S. during peacetime and war. Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers place American flags on graves at national cemeteries.

So this is what is going on Monday morning for memorial day. As far as I know the parade is still on. I believe we have enough people to make a color guard. But anyone is welcome to come up and join us and march in the parade. The parade this year begins on Reba Avenue. Just like it used to in years past. The parade will step off at 10:00 a.m. march down to the cemetery, then there will be a program at the honor grounds in the back of Mansfield Cemetery.
The post will open Monday at 11:00 a.m.. there will be a free meal like in the years past. hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, desserts, all free but you cannot eat until the people that march in the parade show up they get to eat first, that's the deal.

The Avenue of Flags ceremony (to include placing of the flags at 7am) scheduled for tomorrow at Mansfield Memorial Park is canceled. Please push this information as fast and far as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but it was decided after much consideration.

Flower planting that was scheduled for Saturday is postponed AGAIN. If you look at the weather forecast, it's actually the worst day of weather for the entire weekend. As of right now we are going to try it again on May 29th, next Friday. Same time (10am) same place, same uniform. See you all then!
