📚 Mansfield’s Forgotten Businesswoman Comes Home!

Join Oak Hill Cottage Thursday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at Oak Hill Cottage for a conversation with Rachel Greenfield, a longtime New York publishing executive and author of the biography of Mansfield native Rose Knox.

Born Rose Markward, she grew up in a wealthy Mansfield family whose fortunes were devastated by the Panic of 1873. After the family fled creditors in 1877, they eventually settled in Gloversville, New York. Years later, as the widow of Charles Knox, Rose would take the helm of the company he founded and become the celebrated CEO of Knox Gelatine — helping transform it into a household name.

Greenfield’s book, "How One Woman Mixed Kitchen and Boardroom to Remold an American Business", tells the remarkable story of a woman who helped reshape an American company!

Following the talk, Oak Hill Cottage will continue its America 250 October food theme with Knox Gelatine-inspired, Halloween-themed refreshments.
