We are honored to welcome Bob Woodruff as the guest speaker for this year’s Mansfield Foundation Veterans Appreciation Dinner.

An award-winning journalist, war correspondent, and former anchor of ABC’s World News Tonight, Bob’s connection to the military community became deeply personal after he was critically injured by a roadside bomb while reporting in Iraq. His recovery ultimately led him and his wife, Lee, to establish the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which has raised more than $160 million to support veterans, service members, and their families.

We cannot think of a more meaningful voice to join us as we gather to honor the men and women of our own community who have served our country.

Announcing the Gavin Garverick Memorial Scholarship

The Gavin Garverick Memorial Scholarship was established by Gavin’s family, friends, and classmates to honor his life and ensure that his memory continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people from his community. Created in the spirit of who Gavin was and the relationships he built with those around him, this annual scholarship celebrates the value of hard work, friendship, and finding a path in life that is uniquely your own. Through this scholarship, those who knew and loved Gavin are creating an enduring legacy that will help other young people take their next steps with confidence and opportunity. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating student of North Penn/Mansfield Jr./Sr. High School who plans to pursue a career in the skilled trades. Recipients may attend a trade or technical school, enroll in a junior college program related to the trades, or enter an apprenticeship following high school. Scholarship funds may be used toward tuition or expenses associated with beginning an apprenticeship. Although Gavin’s life was far too short, the impact he had on his family, friends, classmates, and community will endure. Each student who receives this scholarship will carry a piece of Gavin’s legacy forward as they learn a trade, build a career, and create a future of their own. The Gavin Garverick Memorial Scholarship is a lasting tribute to a young man who was deeply loved and will always be remembered.

A Legacy That Will Last for Generations

Every graduating class leaves behind memories. The North Penn-Mansfield High School Class of 2026 chose to leave behind something even greater.

Through their generosity and hard work as a class, they came together to establish a permanent scholarship endowment, the North Penn - Mansfield Jr./Sr. High School Class of 2026 Scholarship, that will help future graduates of North Penn-Mansfield High pursue their dreams of higher education for years to come. Long after the tassels have been turned and the diplomas have been framed, their gift will continue opening doors for students they may never meet.

That is the true power of philanthropy.

Too often we think charitable giving is something people do later in life. The Class of 2026 has proven otherwise. They have shown that generosity has no age requirement, only a willingness to invest in the future of others.

By choosing to give back, they have set a remarkable standard for the classes that will follow. Their example reminds us that leadership is measured not only by what we achieve, but by what we leave behind.

Congratulations, North Penn-Mansfield Class of 2026 and thank you for creating a legacy that will continue changing lives for generations!

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service and visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Church of the New Covenant, 310 Extension St., Mansfield, PA, with Pastor Mark Scafidi officiating.

Honoring the Life and Legacy of Brian Barden

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of Brian Barden.

Brian was more than a member of our Board of Directors. He was a friend, a champion of our community, and someone who generously shared his time, talents, and heart in service to others. His thoughtful leadership, quiet generosity, and unwavering commitment to making our region a better place left a lasting impact on the Mansfield Foundation as well as on all the countless lives he touched.

We are deeply grateful for Brian’s dedication and the legacy he leaves behind. While we will miss his presence around our board table, his influence will continue to be felt through the work we do and the lives that will be changed because of his service.

Please join us in keeping Brian’s family, friends, and all who loved him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you, Brian, for your friendship, your leadership, and your belief in the power of community. Your life made a difference, and your memory will continue to inspire us.
