Collection Collaboration Campaign

Collection Collaboration Campaign Mansfield University students are collecting clothing, arts and crafts, and early childhood development items as part of an international service project!

EMANA, a non-profit civil service organization based out of El Salvador, is engaging in a “Collection Collaboration Campaign” donations collection program designed to help individuals living within El Salvador and the United States. While EMANA is constantly working to improve conditions in San Rafael Tasajera through its current projects, the group would like to expand its positive impact with a

new project. EMANA recognizes the increasing interconnectedness of the world today and, therefore, endeavors to enlist volunteers and expand its program reach to an international level. In this regard, EMANA recognizes a unique situation where it has the ability to engage in projects that will benefit people in need within El Salvador, the United States, and beyond. The scope of this project is such that the village of San Rafael Tasajera stands to benefit from the donation of warm-weather clothes, craft supplies, and early childhood development items while at the same time EMANA has an opportunity to work to benefit the town and surrounding communities of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, USA, through the collection and donation of cold-weather clothing items such as coats, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and boots. It is in this way that individuals from these two drastically different nations are coming together to simultaneously help people in both countries. EMANA believes that together, bit by bit, we can make this world a better place. This project has two primary goals. The first goal of this project is to collect 250 pieces of warm-weather clothing (including: shirts, pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, etc.), 100 art and craft items, and 50 early childhood development items during a four week collection campaign between March 21, 2015, and April 18, 2015, and to ship them to EMANA in El Salvador where the items will be distributed in the village of San Rafael Tasajera, El Salvador. The second goal of this project is to collect 150 pieces of cold-weather clothing (including coats, hats, mittens, gloves, scarves, and boots) during the four week collection campaign between March 21, 2015, and April 18, 2015, to be donated to local charities in and around the town of Mansfield, Pennsylvania. EMANA will reach its goals by reaching out to volunteers in the United States. To that end, the “Collection Collaboration Campaign” is designed to foster collaboration between volunteers in the United States and El Salvador in an effort to provide the people of San Rafael Tasajera with warm-weather clothing for villagers who cannot afford to buy their own clothes; to provide charities within and around Mansfield with cold-weather clothing for individuals in need; to provide crafts to support and enhance the “Artisans of the Sea” project with jewelry supplies as well as items to enhance the experience of living through artistic expression; and to provide early childhood development toys and books to help village children develop hand-eye coordination, shapes and colors recognition, and even exposure to the English language through children’s story books. This project is designed to help improve the quality of life within the village of San Rafael Tasajera, El Salvador and the area of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, USA. This project is also designed to enhance the lives of the volunteers in the United States and El Salvador through service for the less fortunate.
