Malawi Orphan Care Project, Inc.

Malawi Orphan Care Project, Inc. We financially and prayerfully support orphans and their caregivers in Malawi, Africa. In addition to receiving a meal, there are Bible lessons and activities.

Kanyenyeva is an area northeast of Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital city and in February 2005, the elders of four local villages started an orphan project to help feed and support 125 local orphans and their caregivers. These children are orphans due to losing one or both parents, usually to AIDS or malaria. By November 2005, the Kanyenyeva Orphan Care Ministries had to stop their orphan feeding program

due to lack of funds and requested our help. In December 2005, with our donations and prayers, they were able to restart their feeding program, purchase seeds, fertilizer, plates and utensils. They were also able to get a crop planted in time for the rainy season which begins in December. Today, with the help of Malawi Orphan Care Ministries, the Kanyenyeva Orphan Care Ministries currently helps to feed over 800 orphans six times a week. The orphans live with and are cared for by relatives or others in their village. Many families will take in several orphans so the drain on their food supply is great in this extremely poor country. It is very helpful for the caregivers to have the orphans fed at the orphan project. AIDS education is also an important part of this ministry. The orphan project has their own garden and also gives seeds and fertilizer to the caregivers of the orphans so they have a more consistent supply of food.
