Patroller Profile: Brad Walls
🇨🇭 - Yrs on Snow Trails Ski Patrol
Going into my 12th season.
🇨🇭 - Patrol roles & certifications:
"Alpine Patroller. Ran Ski Swap for several years. Outdoor Emergency Care Instructor. Treasurer for 2 years. Assistant Patrol Director for 3 years. Patrol Director for 4 years. Currently serving the Ohio Region of the National Ski Patrol as Assistant Region Director.”
🇨🇭 - Why I joined:
"I grew up near Snow Trails and worked here during the late 80s through most of the 90s. I knew many people on Patrol and what patrollers do. It was always something I was interested in doing. I mean, who wouldn’t want to wear the red coat with a white cross on the back?”
🇨🇭 - Favorite Patrol Memory:
"Not one. Many. Too many to count. Learning how to “real-life”Patrol and handle situations from absolute legends like Bill Baldosser, Bob Schradley, Nelson Whisler, Bill Harkins, and Sue Hendricks."
🇨🇭 - Best Advice for a new candidate:
"That it is a real commitment. That you’ll get out of it exactly what you put into it. That it’s worth it. It’s worth your curiosity, time, effort, and commitment. Come talk to us. Get out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. We will be there to teach, support, and help you. We are the first and original Ski Patrol in Ohio and still the best!”
🇨🇭 - Favorite place / run / conditions to ski or ride at Snow Trails?
"Early cold bluebird mornings or warm rainy nights. The Rustler = Always fun and always fast."
🇨🇭 - Why Snow Trails Ski Patrol Matters to Me:
"The friends that have become family. I love that we take care of each other, have each other’s backs, and that as a team, we are our very best in other peoples worst moments. We have a proud history and tradition. Wearing the red coat means something to us. I enjoy everything that is being a part of that."
🇨🇭 - When you are not on patrol, where is your favorite place to ski, ride, hike, MTB or spend time outdoors?
"Riding bike on the local bike trails"
