Save the Gate House Art Aucution 2025
Color Block Quilt

Each piece comes with a story and the story of the Color Block Quilt is one of the best. Brian and Brenda Barden noticed a couple exploring the outside of the Gate House. Being the wonderful ambassadors they are, they stopped and introduced themselves. The Songs were traveling through the area and were intrigued by the building. They were immediately offered a tour and the historical significance of the building and the project was explained. The Art Auction was also mentioned and Linda Song offered this quilt she had recently completed as a donation to the auction.

This is what community is about.

The auction continues today at the Gate House or via text (570.662.2883) until 5:00 pm on the 4th.

Item 8

Blue pottery wall vase with a delightful dragonfly theme. Interior is sealed to prevent leaks, so it can be used for fresh flowers or planting. Diane Tumminelo is a wonderful artist with many beautiful and creative products. She also teaches classes (and if she can teach me how to make a vase like this, you know she’s good!). Diane’s work can be found as Old Vermilion Trail Pottery at vendor shows and at Crossroads Collective.

This acrylic painting titled “Cool Green Path” was created by Karol White. Karol started painting after attending a “coffee and Canvas” event with her granddaughter and quickly fell in love with painting. She states “I paint all sorts of things! Bookmarks, Mini-canvases on easels, Christmas ornaments, even shoes!” She has displayed her work at vendor shows under the name “Peace and Promise Paintings”, reflecting her peaceful subject matter and the scripture verse promise in each completed item.

Hand-quilted wall hanging by Lynne Haflett. She has been sewing since the age of 4 (using a knee pedal machine because her feet didn’t touch the floor) and quilting since 1997. When not in her sewing room, she can be found reading, scrapbooking, playing with her English Springer Spaniels or traveling the world. She loves to learn and challenge herself. Plans for this year include mastering free motion machine quilting. Lynne is a member of the Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild.
