This week, we proudly recognize National Public Safety Telecommunications Week 💛

We want to take a moment to thank all of the 911 dispatchers and telecommunications professionals—the calm voices in the chaos, the steady hands behind every emergency response, and the critical link that keeps our communities safe.

A special thank you goes out to those who are members of the Northern Ohio CISM Team. Your commitment goes beyond the call, providing vital support to first responders and fellow telecommunicators during some of the most difficult moments. Your compassion, strength, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

We are grateful for everything you do—today and every day.

If you’ve not attended this yet, it’s 100% free weekend retreat and it is worth your mental health.

Their retreats are for active, retired or former first responders (Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS, Corrections Officers and Dispatchers) Significant others are encouraged to attend, as well.

They bring in the best peer speakers and clinicians in the country when it comes to first responder mental health and wellness. All you pay for is your transportation to and from the Marriott Northwest Hotel in Dublin, Ohio. They pay for your lodging, food and speakers and clinicians that come from across the country.

Today we sadly share that our team has lost a team member and a great man.

Orlando Chatman JR unexpectedly passed away.

Orlando joined our team in 2022 after his retirement from the City of Mansfield Ohio Police Department, and after serving in the United States Army. Please keep his family, friends and his brothers and sisters in blue in your prayers.

A great man gone way to soon. Orlando was only 46 years old.

Orlando thank you for your service to your country, the community and finally to the first responders in our area. You will truly be missed.

We would like to thank Aubrie Hall with NAMI - Richland County for inviting us to speak at their CIT training class being held this week.

We would also like to thank our peer support team members Katie Weightman, Nanette Eggeman and Jim Eggeman for taking the time to educate the attendees about the CIRS program, how it can help them after a traumatic event and the importance for first responders to take care of themselves.

For those not aware of what the CIT program is, the program is a collaborative effort between law enforcement and the mental health community to help officers handle incidents involving people suffering from mental illness. It focuses on advanced training and specialization for first responders, immediate crisis response for those with mental illness, officer and consumer safety and referral for those in crisis to ensure proper mental health treatment instead of incarceration.
