Hi everyone! We, as a market, are really hoping to find an affordable indoor location in downtown Storrs for our Winter Farmers Market. We’re celebrating our 32nd year as a market which is amazing but we really want to find a way to remain downtown, in a convenient location for you all that is also easily accessible to UConn students.

The challenge is that we are a not-for-profit organization so funds are limited; we are truly just a bunch of farmers, bakers and makers looking to serve our community. Does anyone have any suggestions for a very affordable location downtown that will allow a large space as we try to grow the market that has adequate and accessible parking? We’re one of a few markets in the state the runs year-round, which is truly special, and we’d love help from the community as we try to expand. Thank you all 💕

3 FARMERS MARKET DINNERS + DESSERT 💕

Smash Burger Tacos with Roasted Corn & Tomato Salsa + Crispy Garlic Potatoes

📣 Market Announcement & Vendor Spotlight 📣

We want to begin with a sincere thank you to Erin Broccoli and acknowledge the many years of hard work, care, and dedication Erin has given to the Storrs Farmers Market as Market Master. As Erin steps down to focus more on family, I’m honored to be taking over as Market Master. I’m Michelle Jordan, owner of Hillyndale Road Farm & Bakery, and while I’ve been a vendor at many farmers markets over the years and have even had the opportunity to manage one, my hometown Storrs Farmers Market has always been the one closest to my heart. I’m so excited for the opportunity to build on what Erin and so many others have created here, continue growing our market, support our incredible local farmers and makers, and help it reach its full potential.

🎉 Vendor Spotlight: Hillyndale Road Farm🎉
Since I’m introducing myself in a new role, it seems like the perfect time to reintroduce my own farm, too! Hillyndale Road Farm is my small farm and licensed home bakery here in Mansfield. I’m a self-taught baker, and what started with teaching myself to make sourdough at home has grown into a bakery offering a large variety of sourdough breads, yeast breads, scones, cookies, and more, all made from scratch. I’m also a new, first-generation farmer—and very much learning as I go! What began with a few backyard raised beds has grown to nearly three acres that I’m slowly expanding to include vegetables, fruit, flowers, herbs, plants, and eggs, while using no-spray, regenerative practices.

Both baking and farming have involved a whole lot of learning, experimenting, mistakes, and figuring things out along the way, and I’m incredibly grateful that our community has allowed me to turn the things I love into Hillyndale Road Farm. I’m looking forward to this next chapter—not only as a vendor, but as your new Market Master—and I can’t wait to see what we can grow together at Storrs.

We're celebrating pickles this week! Whether that means buying already made pickles made locally with local veggies or buying some veggies and making your own pickles, we've got you covered! (We've even got pickle cookbooks for you to look at in the information tent) The breeze is delightful and the sun is shining so come on by, now till 5:00 on the lawn by town hall.
