Also, a few things:

1. You DO NOT have to register for the 5K to attend. We want to entire community present at Timmerman Park this Saturday to enjoy the other activities.

2. You are welcome to register for the 5K, but at this point it is too late for you to get an event shirt. But, you will still earn your medal.

3. You can walk or run the route.

Today we commemorate Juneteenth, the day in 1865 when news of emancipation finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Juneteenth is a powerful reminder: freedom wasn’t granted all at once, and the fight for justice and equity continues today.

We honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans—past, present, and future.

Let’s celebrate Black history, elevate Black voices, and commit to building a better, more just future for all.
