A non-profit club chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics that promotes radio control model aviation through aeromodeling activities at the birthplace of aviation--the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Our club does not maintain a business office, but may be contacted anytime by e-mail, telephone, or text message.

Dare County Radio Control Flyers is looking for new members to share our hobby with, and we are hosting an event on Saturday that may allow you to begin a journey into model aviation at little to no cost!

Come visit us at flying field for the Outer Banks Festival of Model Aviation beginning at 10AM on Saturday, May 30th, and one of our instructor pilots will get you into the air with a radio control airplane at no cost.

Local residents who try flying will receive a free raffle ticket and could win one of three radio control planes with a combined value of over $1,476 being awarded.

Admission is at least one non-perishable food item per person and benefits the Beach Food Pantry.

A lunch of grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and beverages is included with admission.

The club's flying field is located at 1521 Link Road in Manns Harbor, and is accessible through the entrance of the Outer Banks Gun Club.

As we rapidly approach the end of 2025 we wanted to let our members and friends know that your continued support is truly appreciated.

Field trip to Military Aviation Museum – January 25th.
Approved as AMA 2025 Gold Leader Club – March 12th.
Field trip to Sports Zone Hobbies OBX – March 15th.
Received a $1.235 Flying Site Improvement Grant – April 29th.
Received a $1,000 Takeoff-And-Grow grant – May 27th.
First Flight Invitational Model Air Pylon Races – June 7th.
Club fly on National Model Aviation Day – August 16th.
Community outreach display at Manteo Airport Victory Day – September 6th.
Community outreach display at Outer Banks Brewtag – October 25h.
Christmas party at Tres Tequilas Restaurante Mexicano – December 19th.

Seventeen members and guests attended our club's annual Christmas Party at 3 Tequilas Restaurante Mexicano in Kill Devil Hills. In attendance were: Frank and Emily Ausband; Pete and Rosemary Carros; Jim and Sharon Davis; Grant Dick; Bernie Feaganes; Peter Fynn; Kim and Anna Lloyd; Grant Peacock; Jim and Joyce Shiels; Robert and Diane Yanacek, and; Stephen Yanacek.

Our dinner featured an array of tasty Mexican cuisine, served to us by our friendly waitress, Valentina.

The evening's festivities proved to be a wonderful way to celebrate our friendship, begin the 2025 holiday season, and end the year's flying season.

OBX Brew Tag! We got first place this year!

Robert Yanacek and Diane Yanacek were at the field today to perform weekly maintenance. While Diane cut the grass with the club's zero-turn mower, Robert trimmed grass around the shed, the work tables, the safety flagpole, and at the entrance. Although flying on Saturday is doubtful, due to a forecast of high winds, the field looks really good.

An article appeared in today's edition of The Coastland Times about club member Peter Fynn being selected as a member of the United States Scale Modeling Team that will compete in Buckminster, UK in July 2026.

Congratulations to Peter in this noteworthy accomplishment! Our club members wish him the best of luck and know he will be an immeasurable asset to our nation's team at this event.
