The Jr. Chamber has been busy in your community this month. The Taste of Clarendon, Scholarships, and various projects remind us of how critical our members are, so it’s only right we wrap this month up with our member spotlight….

This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on one of our longtime Junior Chamber members, HB Buddin!

HB has been an active member of the Clarendon County Junior Chamber of Commerce since 2014 and has played a vital role in our organization’s success over the years. His dedication to serving our community led him to serve as Vice President from 2016-2017 and President from 2017-2018, helping guide the organization through many impactful projects and initiatives.

A 2010 graduate of Manning High School, HB continued his education at Limestone College, where he earned his degree. Professionally, he has been serving the community through Clarendon Exterminating since 2014.

Beyond his professional and community involvement, HB is a devoted family man. He is married to his wife, Jade, and together they have two sons, Bridger and Charlie.

Thank you, HB, for your years of leadership, service, and commitment to making Clarendon County a better place. We are grateful to have you as part of the Junior Chamber family!

The Clarendon County Jr. Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the recipients of our 2026 JC Scholarship! Each year, our organization awards two $1,500 scholarships to outstanding students in Clarendon County, and this year’s recipients truly exemplify leadership, academic excellence, and service to their communities.

Congratulations to Ansh Patel of Manning High School, who was presented his scholarship by JC member Trey Gardner. Ansh has been actively involved in FFA, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council, Yearbook Photography, and the Cultural & Language Club. He also volunteers with the Early Childhood Master Garden Program. This fall, he will attend the University of South Carolina to major in Finance.

Congratulations also to Jernee Ford of Scott’s Branch High School, who received her scholarship from JC member Daishawn McFadden. Jernee’s impressive involvement includes Student Government, Palmetto Girls State, Santee Electric Cooperative Representative, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, National Honor Society, FBLA, Upward Bound and I.C.A.N. Mentorship Program. She also volunteers with Emanuel Daycare Facility and the IRS VITA Tax Service. Jernee plans to attend Florida Memorial University, where she will major in Psychology and minor in Early Child Development.

We are incredibly proud of both of these students and cannot wait to see what their futures hold. We also want to thank all of the students who applied this year — we received many outstanding applications and truly enjoyed reading each one.

The Junior Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with Manning Rotary to provide senior yard signs for every graduating senior in the Clarendon County School District! 🎓

We are honored to help celebrate the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of the Class of 2026. These students have bright futures ahead, and we hope these signs serve as a small reminder of how proud our community is of them.

A special thank you to Melissa Foust with Manning Rotary for bringing this project to our attention and for their continued commitment to supporting our local students and community.

This week, we honor two of the most essential pillars of our community—our teachers and our nurses.

Teachers inspire, educate, and empower our next generation. They go above and beyond every day to create a brighter future for our children, often making personal sacrifices so their students can succeed.

Nurses care, comfort, and heal. They are there in our most vulnerable moments, working tirelessly with compassion and dedication to keep our community healthy and strong.
You are two critical parts of what makes our community thrive.

Thank you for your service, your heart, and the countless sacrifices you make each day. We are grateful for YOU-today and always!

‼️Junior Chamber Scholarship Deadline Extended‼️

It has been brought to our attention that several of our scholarship applications were returned due to an issue with our PO Box. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

In order to rectify this mistake we have extended our deadline for scholarship applications from May 1st to May 8th.

If you are a senior at a Clarendon County school please speak with your guidance counselor about the application. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please message us directly.

Again, we apologize for any confusion and look forward to reviewing this years applications, thank you!

🌟 Our April Member Spotlight: Nelson Gibbons 🌟

The Clarendon County Junior Chamber of Commerce is proud to highlight Nelson Gibbons, a dedicated leader, public servant, and community advocate.

A graduate of Manning High School (2012) and Francis Marion University (2016), Nelson joined the JC in 2016 and quickly became a cornerstone of the organization. He has served in multiple leadership roles, including Treasurer (2018–2023), Treasurer/VP, and Treasurer/President (2020–2021), consistently helping drive impactful events and initiatives that benefit Clarendon County.

Professionally, Nelson built his career at Gibbons & Company as a Tax Preparer & Accountant. He now serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Clarendon County, continuing his commitment to responsible leadership and community growth.

Outside of the JC, Nelson gives back through involvement in the New Zion July 4th celebration, the Clarendon Fire Department (as a volunteer firefighter and 1% Fund Committee member), and the South Carolina State Hunters Association.

At home, Nelson is a devoted husband to his wife Devyn of 10 years and a proud father to Greer (5) and Grady (1).

Nelson lives by the golden rule and is driven by a simple but powerful goal: to leave a legacy his family is proud of and to make sure everyone he encounters feels valued and appreciated.

We’re grateful for the leadership, heart, and dedication Nelson brings to our organization and our community!
