What does homegrown tomatoes, donated food from local orgs, a little creativity, and many hands make? A successful meal with the community! We had a hearty and fresh southwest black bean chickpea salad, homemade tortilla chips, lots of fresh fruit, and a gorgeous day to enjoy it all this Sunday. Want to join in the fun? We’ll be back at Jackson Park on September 6th for a pop up meal. Want to help? Come to our meeting at the Blue Earth County Library the day before (Sept 5th) at noon in the conference room to learn of all the behind the scenes opportunities! Many hands make light work, everyone has different talents, and fostering community and building each other up is what makes us strong. 💪

Our first bonus community meal in July was such a success we’re doing it again! Join us on August 9th for nourishing and delicious food, good conversations, and community building. Feel free to bring a side to contribute, or just come ready to eat! We’ll see you there!

We had a great time sharing food and connection last Sunday with a delicious chickpea pasta salad! When we prepped food Saturday we also stocked tote bags with the community in-kind donations we received at Julia Hamann’s campaign launch party. These will head out with FnB members to be given to community members in need all month long. We want to be able to get supplies and support those who need it not only at our meal shares but throughout the month. We have additional need and are making a list for new in-kind donations that YOU can help with! Keep an eye out here on our social media, and as always, we welcome you to any of our upcoming events!

Join us for a delicious fresh pasta salad and sides this upcoming in Sunday at Jackson Park. As always, feel free to bring something to share out or community potluck or just your appetite! Plan ahead for August where we’d love to see you at our monthly meeting or one of our two opportunities to connect with food at Jackson Park.

When the world and weather so negatively impact folks it’s time, more than ever, to step up and check on your neighbors. This heat affects everyone, but especially those who might not have reliable indoor cooling. Sharing water and other means of hydration or cooling down can make a world of difference. In Mankato and need a place to cool off? Partners for Housing at 514 South Riverfront Dr. and the Salvation Army Day Shelter at 700 South Riverfront Dr. are providing resources and places to go.

A few weeks ago we had the opportunity to partner with Julia (Julia Hamann for Mankato Mayor) and prepare food for her campaign launch party. We collected in-kind donations and are so thankful for the generosity of the community! With our mission of mutual aid, we will be connecting with folks who may not have easy access to these things like hygiene products, food, or hydration. This is community supporting community in action.
We are glad to partner with Julia as we focus on community, mutual aid, and solidarity in Mankato.

We had an INCREDIBLE first time trying out a second community meal in one month! With good food, good weather, and an incredible community with 40+ people eating, helping, and connecting over the 2 hours in the park, we could not have asked for a better afternoon. Join us at 12:30 this Saturday July 11th as we work together to plan continued events, or stop by on Sunday July 19th for our typical 3rd Sunday of the month meal.

Join us tomorrow for delicious black bean tacos/taco salad and sides! Feel free to come to help, connect, or just to eat! This is our first test in expanding from once-a-month meal shares - come on down to eat good food and make it a success!

We had beautiful weather and a great turnout at our last community potluck last Sunday! We always love seeing every smiling face and getting to share in good food and community with everyone.

We’re looking forward to making good food and seeing folks again at Julia Hamann’s campaign launch party at the Makerspace on Monday and then AGAIN for another community meal at Jackson park on July 5th! Want to get involved? We’re collecting donations at the launch party and are always looking for new friendly faces to join us in coordinating, making, or serving food! Just reach out!
