Our St. Lawrence Seaway trade revitalization trade mission continued with port tours and seminars in Lisbon, Aveiro and Porto, Portugal, to discuss opportunities to utilize the Great Lakes for two-way trade focusing on U.S. agriculture. Thank you to our farmer participants and supporters from Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board, MN Soybean Research & Promotion Council and Ohio Soybean Council as well as Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and Ports of Indiana.

Our St. Lawrence Seaway Trade Revitalization Program’s 2026 trade mission began Monday in Morocco. Our delegation visited the ports of Casablanca and Tangier and hosted a seminar to discuss opportunities and challenges shaping trade between Morocco and U.S. inland ports along the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Seaway System. the delegation includes farmer leaders from Ohio Soybean Council , MN Soybean Research & Promotion Council and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board ; as well as representatives of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation , Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP)

Through classroom learning, processor and farm visits and hands-on demonstrations, participants in the Northern Crops Institute Food Soy Procurement Course received a fork to farm look at the identity preserved soy value chain. Several USIP Alliance staff and members presented at the course, while Brushvale Seed and SB&B Foods hosted tours.
