The Native American Student Association (NASA) is a multi-tribal student organization that serves students who identify as American Indian. The student organization is an open group with members who are both Native and non-Native. NASA is advised through the American Indian Affairs Program and adheres to the program's mission statement: "The American Indian Affairs Program is a program under Insti

tutional Diversity located in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Our mission to provide American Indian students of all tribal backgrounds at Minnesota State University with support services during their college careers. We provide opportunities for students and work towards the recruitment and retention of American Indian students. The goal of the program to create an inclusive and supportive community on campus, a "home away from home""(American Indian Affairs, Multicultural Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato).

Join the Native American Student Association and American Indian Affairs for a picture to show support for Orange Shirt Day, an annual event that happens on September 30 nationwide, honoring and remembering the children lost to boarding schools. We will also have a visual display of the impact of boarding schools around the fountain throughout the day.

Orange shirts will be provided if you don't have one! Limited supply on shirts so first come, first serve!

Also please check out the information display in the cases between the bookstore and Student Activities, starting on Monday September 15 - Friday October 3.

Our Story

The Native American Student Association (NASA) is a multi-tribal student organization that serves students who identify as American Indian, Native American, or indigenous. The student organizationโ€™s mission is โ€œis to build a community of support for American Indian students, through actions that advocate, educate, and empower the students around them. This will be done in tandem with the work of the American Indian Affairs and American Indigenous Studies departments.โ€ NASA has bi-weekly, open group meetings. NASA is advised through the American Indian Affairs Program and adheres to the program's mission statement: "The American Indian Affairs Program is a program under Institutional Diversity located in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Our mission to provide American Indian students of all tribal backgrounds at Minnesota State University with support services during their college careers.
