Our mission is to provide safety and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence through educaion, advocacy, and shelter.

All CADA communications are driven by our values and mission. CADA seeks to engage with our community by sharing credible and timely information that:
• Educates and promotes awareness of issues relating to our mission
• Validates the experiences of survivors of relationship abuse and/or sexual violence
• Shares information about our organization

We encourage healthy and respectful dialogue in this space. While this is a public forum, it is a platform that CADA created and is responsible for. In order to maintain a healthy and supportive space for all (survivors, our community, employees, volunteers, etc.) and we reserve the right to remove comments or ban individuals from our platforms. We encourage dialogue that:
• Speaks from personal experiences or perspectives. Directly calling out or naming individuals or groups without their consent in a potentially harmful way will not be tolerated.
• Is respectful of all individuals and groups. Discriminatory or hateful comments regarding race, gender, ethnicity, religion, gender, ability, sexuality, or comments that violate CADA’s values will not be tolerated.
• Keeps discussions generative, helpful, and informative. Repeated and deliberately disruptive statements meant to hijack comment threads, intimidate others, or derail conversations will not be tolerated. CADA is committed to our own growth as an agency and appreciates both positive and constructive feedback, as long as communication is in line with our guidelines. We are limited in our capacity to address grievances through social media platforms and encourage individuals with a formal grievance to contact our Executive Director.

A huge thank you to A-OK / Alliances and Outreach for Kids for transforming our playroom into a more welcoming, family-friendly space! From painting and organizing to installing a half door that helps keep children safe while maintaining visibility, every detail was thoughtfully considered. Their hard work, creativity, and care added warmth, comfort, and functionality that our families will enjoy for years to come.

We're saying goodbye to our St. Peter office, but not to the community. 💜

As part of our transition to a regional hub model, our St. Peter office closed today. Survivors in Nicollet County will continue to receive the same advocacy, support, and resources, with more flexibility to connect virtually or in person.

Healthy relationships start young!

Here's how adults can help children grow their skills in having healthy relationships for life:
✅ Talk about what it means to be a good friend
✅ Teach children about boundaries and personal space
✅ Practice communication skills
✅ Teach children to recognize and name their feelings
✅ Be open and let kids know they can come to you with questions, worries, or problems
✅ Lead by example - show kindness and respect in your own relationships

Adults play an important role in modeling these skills every day. Prevention starts early!

We remember Alice Brown, Kristen Brown, and Evie Brown, the eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth confirmed victims of domestic violence homicide in Minnesota in 2026.
Alice Brown was “the kindest and most loving; a gardener who loved to walk.” Kristen Brown was “an amazing mother; an amazing businesswoman; funny and witty.” She opened Brown Bear Daycare after giving birth to Evie in 2018, and wrote often of her passion for caring for children. Evie was “a natural leader,” and she loved rainbows and sparkles. We remember Alice, Kristen, and Evie.

Yesterday, news broke about a tragic event at a daycare in Hopkins, MN. Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of those whose lives were taken, and we hold in our hearts the witnesses, first responders, our fellow advocates across the state, and all who are impacted by this unimaginable loss.

While it may not be clear in headlines, what is called a “murder-su***de” is often, in fact, domestic violence. This tragedy is a devastating reminder that domestic violence is not a private family matter that only happens behind closed doors. Domestic violence can happen anywhere – at a daycare, school, work, grocery store, or in your neighborhood. Everyone can be impacted by this trauma, whether they’ve personally experienced domestic violence or not.

As a community, we must support victims and survivors. Everyone has a role to play. You can check in on a friend, learn the warning signs of abuse, request a presentation on domestic violence for your workplace, or learn more about your local advocacy services.

If you are experiencing domestic violence in any form – emotional, financial, physical, sexual, through control or isolation – know that CADA is here for you. Advocates can help you understand your options, plan for your safety, and support you however you want to move forward.
